With all the cases I've studied this isn't necessarily the case. I came across a number of woman judges who handed down lenient sentences going against what the DA wanted. It's all really a crap shoot, it's like going to the casino, your betting against the house.

I do not know if the judge was male or female. I do know the DA was female.

Plus, it was the jury that found him guilty. I have no idea, yet, what the sentencing will be like, though, and that is done by the judge.

I felt the same way HB, but I also think it depends on the county in which you are tried. There are several counties that are very harsh on SO in CA.

I have been surprised. My husbands PO is a woman and she is much more reasonable than the men he had in the past. A friend of his though, has a woman PO and she's HORRIBLE. I think it's a matter of personal difference, not so much because of gender.

the male judge my husband had could have been a woman, he sentenced like a scorned woman.

I agree that the women in corrections, probation, and litigation seem to mostly be bitches. They seem to be of feminist minds which have man hating mantras. I understand their point of view, that women have been oppressed for a very long time. That for thousands of years we have been treated as less than human and second class citizens. So when we start gaining equality we turn into the things that we were fighting so hard against? Bullies?

To me it is the natural progression of what happens to a person after they are abused by whatever or whoever. Many times they themselves turn into the abusers... Hence the, cycle of abuse. Feminists have been fighting for so long, it is like they don't know when to stop. They are turning in to the white males they have fought so hard against for their rights to vote, own property, etc.

I am extremely nervous about my sons case as well. NO DNA but my son had heard inside that the conviction rate is 95% (Northern/Central) california.

Both the DA and the judge were women in my son's case and it did seem as though they were being vindictive and meaner than necessary, but that's just my opinion. Of course, I also had to sit behind him and hear him sniffing, knowing he was showing more emotion that he usually does, and that didn't faze them a bit. They called his comments in his statement "cold," but then that's exactly how they acted when they ignored his sorrow.

Female DA in "our" case had her mind made up and nothing could change it.

Wisconsin, I think you are right! When it comes to the women, I think they are trying to make their point in this world. I had a BITCH for a Judge! I think she was the worst I have ever seen. Now, not that I have seen a lot of them, but only the man judge and the woman judge and she was so horrible that she made me leave the courtroom when I burst into tears. No COMPASSION.

My husband had a female prosecutor that seemed to make her bones on his case. she was new and fresh out of law school when he was originally charged.

For those of you that haven't noticed, women are vindictive as a rule. I am one and will vouch for the fact that this is true, even if it includes me... They are vindictive, they will turn on their best friends if it benefits them. They are snide and they are back stabbing... They are usually far to nosey only to compare you with themselves, and everyone else. They are competitive and mean... This is why I work with majority men in a field that is not dominated by women at all... SOOOOO Much easier to work with men than women.

There are plenty of theories of why women are the way they are compared to men.... I have a laundry list depending on the situation... But I think it boils down to the feeling of lack of control for so long with the centuries of oppression that now it is instinct and we try to control everything that we come across, be it our children, our jobs, our loved ones, our spouses, and our pets... :) The more I reflect the more I see how we are just so human and fallible.... how we have so much to learn about what being a 'good person' is all about on a country wide kinda sense.

wow that is harsh... made you leave the courtroom... for folks like that I start examining their court record with a fine tooth comb... then start looking for things they make mistakes on... There are avenues to file complaints against judges... although in WI, it is just easier to VOTE THEM OUT... as they are elected officials here...

Vote out all incumbents... we have no need to have anyone of seniority running anything in our country... would rather have people that have no connections in government to run things than those that have interests outside what we elected them to do...

Again I have seen both with different outcomes. Does it help if you have a woman lawyer and therapist? Who knows, we'll see in my case....

Wisconsin, yes, she told me twice and I finally went out and a young girl that was in the courtroom came out and said that she thought I needed a hug! And they would not let his father or grandmother hug him goodbye. The weird thing is that the courtroom was just about empty and there was a time when she revoked some guy and the courtroom was overly full and the guy's fiance burst into tears and not once did she make her leave. The man judge that gave my son a sentence let us see him for 15 minutes before his sentence.

Frogpond, I don't know what to say. I guess I am just venting about this woman judge because she also yelled at my son's father when he was on the stand. I guess I should not pick on the women. Everyone has a different personality. The D.A. in both cases were both men and they were jack asses.

But Wisconsin, son's dad has already put a deposit to get the hearing transcript. Makes me wonder if that will be in it.

I realize that the conviction rate is probably 95%, but these convicted offenders did not have DNA that EXCLUDED them as a suspect.

Your son does and that is why I cannot understand why the prosecution even wants to take this to trial.
