Civil Commitment Radio Broadcast Is Available

As you know, I recently participated in an interview for radio broadcast on the issue of civil commitment. Both the printed transcript and the radio broadcast is available at http://www.mdn.org/2013/STORIES/SORTS.HTM

This is part one, as the reporter is doing a second broadcast at a later date. And it is clear by the contents of the statements from those interviewed that we have serious issues in the Missouri civil commitment facility.

No, those in the department are not happy as the broadcast gave em a black eye and one that is deserved I might add since they so commonly spin things to make it look like they do an excellent job and would never violate anyone's rights.

While I am not holding my breadth, I hope it the beginning and not the end in getting things out in the open so we can solve the issues instead of just pretending they do not exist.

I mean, in 15 years not one single person has ever gotten to the "finish line" to be discharged and 17 have died. I would say that is a really crappy average success rate - one that those in the department should be extremely embarrassed in having.

Civil commitment is just another way to keep someone confined without running afoul of the United States Constitution. States have found they can do this and it is just a means they use to legally lengthen a person's prison sentence.

Everyone knows what they are doing. Just as we all know that the registry is a means they use to keep a registrant in "virtual" not physical prison, the civil commitment is used to do the same thing.

Civil commitment is sort of like the registry on steroids. Yes, the registry does not involve someone physically being locked up, but the result is almost the same, but maybe to a lesser degree.

All our "freedoms" which we supposedly have in America are just killing the downtrodden. But hell, that is the American way---while you have someone down and on the ground, stomp them some more.

What a joke this country has become.

During the past five years I have learned all too well how out of control those in government are; how often they violate the law, and how little they give what they demand and practice what they preach. I have learned how little respect they have for the law unless they can shove it down someone's throat.

Civil commitment is tantamount to a concentration camp without the gas chambers, but comparable still as those who go in do not come out alive. It is the states "cure" to rid society of those with disabilities - not for their crime but for their disabilities.

I have often spoken with the director of the department of mental health and time and again he denies that they do anything wrong. So for me, this broadcast holds a special vindication because it is not just me who is pointing out the truth that those in government want to ignore and claim not to exist.

That's why I believe the reporter did such a great job, as she did not let them off the hook; she did not buy into their rhetoric, denials, and propaganda. Rather, she countered with solid facts that cannot be easily dismissed, and she exposed their manipulations for what it is - hogwash.
