Even greater reforms are being proposed for the prison system, which is even more important when we see major politicians backing such reforms. The proposals may not be a reality next year or the next, but they will come with time.
It is no time to take the heat off yet and certainly no time to give up.
More and more people are coming to the conclusion that the sex offender registry is basically unfair and that the entire battle against sex offenders needs to be revamped. More importantly, judges are also beginning to take notice of the absurdity of some of these laws.
The politicians got greedy and overplayed their hand by passing legislation which criminalized teen sex. Once they criminalized normal teen behavior, the parents really got involved, and the entire registry scheme has been exposed.
We CAN win this war and overcome much of this. Yes, we may lose a few battles or skirmishes during the process, but I can tell you folks with complete reassurance-----we are headed in the right direction.
We need to be patient, hold each other as close as possible as we are ALL in this TOGETHER, and keep doing what we have been doing----educating the public.
If we all thought this was hopeless, we might as well pack up and all go home.
Dreams become reality one choice at a time and this will be a slow process, but we will overcome many of these obstacles in the end.

Even if the EEOC had a 10 year rule the problem there is you have more conservative people pushing a national right to work law. Which means even if you managed to get hired at a good company once someone finds out they could fire you for no reason at all. A lot of states already have a right to work law already on the books but I don't know why it's such a good idea.
I don't know where I said what you claim, I just stated reality, it's just a ploy to get votes.
First, I don't believe that they can legally 'ban the box', it's not discrimination because everyone has to fill it out.
Second, it doesn't prevent an employer from doing a background check.
Third, SCOTUS has held that background checks are legal.
Fourth, when that person in the White House started to free some in prison, "How many were convicted of sex crimes?"
Last, SO's will never be included in prison reform and that is reality.
I have never let my status keep me 'muddling' along, instead I just go after what I want always improving myself. If one employer doesn't want me I just move on to the next one.
You have to do for yourself, the Govt. ain't gonna do it for you.
Go ahead and join the "I hate Coastie fan club" I'm used to it but I live in the same world as you, yet I don't let it stop me from going after what I want.
