Oh I am so very very sorry. People are so cruel and they are all sheeple (as my son calls them) - mob mentality is an awful thing - one of the darkest sides of humans. I wish I could help and yes this is your sanctuary but unfortunately it will not make it go away. Think of this unless your new home and neighbors know to look at that FB place (or if someone tells them) they will never know. Of course they may know the RSO part from the registry. Also you need to make sure that any social media site you have does not reveal who you really are - and I would change emails and only give the new one to people you automatically trust. even this person who emailed you may not be trustworthy just because they emailed you ....

The person who shared it was a former friend. When my husband was first arrested, she sent me a lengthy abusive message accusing me of being an apologist for child abuse because I was standing by him. I also suspect she was behind an anonymous call to social services (thankfully they didn't take it seriously). No, I don't esp trust the person who emailed me, as someone told the other person to look for the article...Its just malicious :(

That's sad that people are that mean. I would get off Facebook for now and not feed into the insanity. Unfortunately, due to the stigma of this crime in our society, you will have to find a new normal in life and only associate with people who love you and are sticking by you no matter what. The others aren't worth your time so ignore them. People love drama and talking about others in order to make themselves feel better about all of their sins and shortcomings. Stay strong.. Remember, you did nothing wrong so keep your head up high and live your life. It's not going to be easy, and others on this site can relate to your fears and worries. We are here for you.

I'm so sorry. When my son was convicted (he was only 18 when accused of fooling around with a girl 4 months younger) someone plastered the article all over fb and twitter. His entire high school was sharing it over and over. He got death threats, etc through email. It was horrible. People that cannot empathize with a suffering person are lost. I hope that there are some that will stand up for you on those posts. We had many friends that tried to get the fb posts shut down ( to no avail) but at least they tried. Hang tough.

Isn't it interesting that Facebook denies 'offenders" from getting their story out, shuts down even their accounts regular "postings" to family and friends on Facebook but not the braying of lynch mobs and haters like your former friend? Mark Z is a twit but even that's not the point.

When we and our families are shamed/ blamed and vilified it's clear that the present system of "Justice" is driven NOT to Protect Children as they claim but by their prurient interest and need to bully and to feed off the misery of all the "victims" and 'Offenders' and "families" concerned.

We all know how it feels to hide and refuse to become part of their side show...

I know right now you are hurting too much to need much of anything except to know, really know that I care, WE care and we are ALL of us, here for you, no matter what "they say" We understand and we care...and maybe someday somebody will actually listen when we tell them what a "circus" the Justice System is. What a joke their claims that THEY protect children in order to justify getting their Hate- Off and causing so much collateral damage to us and our children and our families...

Phoenix, people can be cruel. My husbands story was shared all over Facebook. I had folk texting me making sure I was ok, really they were being nosey. It was like a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend passing out my number. His name was on the vigilante style pages who list offenders so I just came off it. Life us better without it, I do miss my business page but sod it.

We are still hoping he stays off those vigilante pages, as the court date seems to have been missed. But I guess it going on FB is going to make that more of a risk.

I just can't believe the mentality of sharing it like this! *I* haven't done anything wrong, but the groups where this was shared are solely connected with me, the only possible motive is to gossip & humiliate me. Well stuff them. They've had zero contact with me for at least 6 months, and they've got nothing better to do?? Sad

Feeling less anxious and more annoyed today ha ha

PhoenixMum: You know I don't think it's just the shock of finding out what "he did, not simply realizing that 'mistakes were made and trust broken inside our family/ between family members but it's the shock of finding out what some other people are really like behind their mask of 'civility' It's adjusting to the realities of friends who were never friends, not really. It's the shock of finding out that the system itself isn't what we thought it would be (finding out the "justice system" is un-just and the therapists and the social workers share in the general "once an offender always a 'dangerous predator" mind set. We are shocked at that they all seem intent on knee jerk blame/ passing sentence/ and punishment also and are not there to restore us or our families to "citizenship" even if / when we acknowledge our mistakes and have every intention of setting things right, because we know our husbands and our children and we know they are good persons and know that if given half a chance they will grow and become the person that not only we but they intended to be. It's the shock of finding out that we and our loved ones are suddenly beyond the pale because we do not believe as they do that "once a SO always a SO" and so we too find ourselves targeted right along with our loved ones. And yes it does make us want to hide, it makes us anxious and afraid and it makes us "annoyed' I make snarky, sarcastic comments. I try to LOL (instead of cry.) And I try to find courage to hold my head up and maybe even hope that someday "they" will just go away and let us get on with our life as best we can...in spite of what the attitude of the next parole officer might be, in spite fears about advocating or speaking out or even (maybe) trying to join hands with others on Daily Strength.
Who knows, maybe we can actually make tomorrow better?

AND we do not have to wait for their "permission" or wait until they stop posting on "Faceboof" to decide to be the 'better person" we just have to resolve to gather courage and take the first step...what ever that "next" step is (maybe just getting out of bed this morning?) but then even the motion of a butterfly wing can have an effect some where when hope is felt somewhere around the world...or even behind closed curtains or prison bars...
Just saying...do not give up, keep on keeping on...

Janet, you are again very right. This whole experience has definitely opened my eyes to a great many things. One thing that has saddened and surprised me is the number of people who seem to think it's quite reasonable and proper to instantly dump their life partner! I've been met with horror and disbelief when people find out I'm standing by my husband. Social services were very suspicious & suggested that my relationship must be abusive! They eventually came out with "but we just don't see this kind of loyalty"!!! I've been with him since I was 17 (I'm now 37), and we have 3 children, yet apparently I should just walk away? No. Just no.
