If you need to take a break, then do so, but please don't leave. Your insight is greatly appreciated.
Anyone that has been in this RSO crap long enough knows that the RSO label is color blind. What it is prejudice again the gender of a person as there are substantially more men on that registry than there are women.
I will not disagree that the way things have worked out for many people that come from extremely depressed areas in metro areas, that are predominantly black in most cases seems to be the place where many prison inmates in this country come from. But when it comes to RSOs those color lines blur to gender lines and color is of no consequence.
Legal, in my experience, when racial stuff is brought up there is a tendency for things to go off the rails and large arguments ensue about something that is so far from the original topic that you can't see it anymore. When I see warning signs I would just as soon nip it in the bud than let it escalate to something that is far worse. Personally I like the fact that you do keep so up to date legally, especially in your state. You ask challenging questions and provide a point of view that is different than many on here, due to your position and relation to an RSO. If you choose to leave, I can't stop you, but really why leave?
Your post was attempting to change the subject of the thread, unintentionally I would assume as the topic of the thread was looking for a debate/discussion and your post was about race just not how it pertained to RSOs.
We are all adults here, my duty to this group is to keep things on topic. If I wanted to talk politics, racism, abortion, etc I would goto or make other groups to discuss those topics as they are not appropriate here.
I am the owner of this list, that fact alone forces me to read as many posts as I can, which in most threads in most of them. That is my job and service to this list to make it a non-hostile place for them to come and discuss what is happening to them regarding this issue and the baggage that comes with it.
So I am not just able to 'ignore' and move on to the next thread as I have a duty to you and everyone else on here to keep this a civil place to come.
While I do agree that black men do get treated worse by the criminal justice system when it comes to drug charges or property crimes, but when it comes to sex offenses, all bets are off.
There are many things I like about this board, but one is that each poster brings something to the table. We are a diverse group. There really are very few "bad" posts. Some opinions I do not care for and some are just wrong, but all posters have something to contribute.
When we have such a diversity, we have an opportunity to learn from each other. I thought I was pretty intelligent, but I have learned so much from others on this site, not only about sex offenses but about life.
When we quit learning or are unwilling to learn, our minds slowly die.
I always try to be diplomatic and respectful. I know everyone here is hurting to an extent, and I would never say anything to bring more pain to people. That is not to say I will not speak out or stand my ground if attacked---or if one of the other posters are attacked----but I like to be a voice of reason.
This is a very valuable board. Sure, we have our spats, but who doesn't?
I may or may not always agree with the moderators, but they have done an excellent job of keeping this place civil. I can remember a time when this place was like the Wild West and too much was being said that was only hurtful, not positive. This forum is better now. A forum that is a literal battlefield does nothing but divide people and run others off.
We are doing fine here.

For this next part Wisconsin, I'm going to quote you but I'm not picking on you. I'm quoting you hoping to illustrate what I mean.
"When it comes to sex offenses, the demographics are not black and white, as my husband saw more white men when he was in prison"
Trying to be objective about it, if sex offenses are color blind then Wisconsin's husband should have definitely seen more white men than black men. A whole lot more, 5 or 6 times more in fact. But if he saw only 2 or 3 times as many white men, that indicates sex offenses and/or the sentencing for sex offenders aren't truly color blind.
