Anyone here convincted of CP possession?

My fiancé has his sentencing in 2 months in CA right after our wedding for one count of CP possession with a very old judge who is a "wild card" meaning no one can ever tell what fate he will decide because he gives such random sentences, very light or extremely harsh.

Has anyone ever been convicted and had a decent outcome? like a year sentence or probation? (along with registering as an SO which I know is a given almost always)

I know nothing about sentencing is "decent" but decent to me means not favorable but not a 6 year sentence either.

My son, then 19 received 30 months in federal prison and 15 years probation for accidentally downloading 3 cp among over 2000 music videos on p2p Limewire. He went in right before his 21st birthday and is now dealing with probation here in PA at age of 25. www.sugarforsalt.com Some of his story.

My son received 72 months in federal prison and 10 years supervised release for CP.

My son was charged with 9 counts of CP. He was arrested and served 1 month in jail due to his bond being $100,000. Had bond hearing and reduced to $5000 for him out and then was sentenced to 1year community control (house arrest) and 4 years probation adjudication withheld. He was facing 45 years in prison. Has to register for life in Florida but can petition to be removed after 25years if no other crimes are committed. Not sure if anyone in Florida has ever been successful at that down here though. State attorney was recommending 1 year in jail and 4 years probation but we ended up doing an open plea deal and that is what the judge sentenced him to. Best of luck to you and your fiancé.

Hi Savannah-------

My son was convicted of CP Receipt ( and not the lower charge of CP Possession) in a Federal Court in
Augusta, GA.

He was a first time offender, and was in the Navy at the time, but all of his stuff was done from home and NOT using military computers or equipment. The judge in his case gave him 15yrs !! He has done about 7...If you are sentenced in Federal court, Federal convictions demand you serve 85% of your sentence ( his case--12yrs, 8months). I understand, State convictions are 65%, but don't quote me. The tradeoff , I guess, is the prisons themselves---most Fed facilities are marginally okay---state prisons can be packed to the gills. Also, he will have to register for life, unless GA has changed their policies.
