So, I'm new here. My bf just took a plea deal on Friday and I've literally been crying since. I have a daughter and under his probation (3 years) he's not allowed around her. She's been crying as well.
I met my current BF last year and found out about his pending charges before we started dating. The prosecutor assured him there were no added restrictions and he would be able to live his life, registered for life on the SO list, but have no other restrictions. That was not the case, our STATE policy doesn't recognize special arrangements to the restrictions while under probation. Other than his own son, he's not allowed around minors for the next 3 years. To make matters worse, my daughter's father called CPS, the prosecutor, my daughter's school and the child advocate center. We have been talking to authority every day for the past week. We have been separated since she was 3 weeks old and we have 80/20 parental rights. I'm the primary parent.
Can anyone give me any suggestions? I know 3 years is "small potatoes" compared to what it could be, but my BF expressed that he would not have formed a connection with us had he known he wouldn't be able to have a "normal" family life again. He said it feels like he's lost his family all over again. My family is absolutely against my choices, I can't ask them for help, they don't even want to listen.

Well, I went and requested a public defender to protect my rights. I was approved, until I wasn't. The judge decided that I wasn't eligible for a PD because I wasn't a parent of a minor child in the care of CPS.
Okay....
So, the CPS case worker calls up and asks when I want to take this "parental fitness test" I told her... "oh, never." She said, that I had to. I told her,"the judge said otherwise" She said. "what?" I said, "yeah, what's the root word of parental?" She said, "parent". I said, yep! And the judge says, "I'm not her parent, so never"
She sputtered for a minute, and then said, 'well, we can't reconcile the family if you don't" I asked her, "what made you think I wanted to...since CPS had not been forthcoming with dangerous incidents that my step-daughter had been involved in, in foster care (she tried to light a kid's hair on fire after she learned she couldn't live with her aunt and uncle)
She sputtered again, and I told her, "I have my sons to protect, and I'm doing MY job"
After that, they never bothered me again lol
