We're still awaiting the outcome of the DOC's decision regarding Shock.
The federal system needs revised. Regan must have profited from private corporations when he changed the parole law.
There has been even more serious talk of reducing the percentage that a federal inmates must serve from the current 85% to 65%. That would help a lot.
When I was in state prison in Oklahoma, an inmate with good behavior on a violent crime could serve and discharge his entire sentence while in prison after serving 41%. That is how I served my 20 year sentence in eight years. But a couple of years before my released, the Oklahoma legislature passed a state "Truth in Sentencing" law, which mandated that 85% must be served by an inmate for certain violent crimes.
I will keep everyone posted on the progress of these laws just as I do the law regarding sex offenders on the "Families of Sex Offenders" board.
If this ever happens, my hope is that it will be applied retroactively without having to hire an attorney.
