Good luck on the med change, and i hope you find one that helps you soon.
I take keppra and lamictal and they seem to be the best for me although nothing has totally stopped my seiz. The Dr. told me that the only thing that will help is surgery.
I took Vimpat at one time to see if it could help at all and it just made things worse.
I have different types of seiz. throughout the month. Everything from simple complex (very light) to grand mals.
I'm not quite sure what's going on, but lately I have been having ones that people say I look like I am headed for a grand mal, but then all of a sudden seem to pull my way out of before I drop. I guess my eyes go back and I look like I am going to fall, but I don't. I don't remember going into any type of grand mal at all, in fact it seems like I am just having a heavy petit, but I get the dizziness of what comes with a grand mal.
It's very weird.
I hope it works out for you.
Thanks to everyone else. It helps a lot to know that I am not alone.
Please, keep a Journal, if you aren't already. Include foods/beverages/activities. This can help you figure out any thing that Mite trigger your seizures. You mentioned starting college & someone being 'mean'. This may be causing undue Stress. Stress is just one of many triggers. Although most sites claim sleep deprivation as the Main cause of Stress, I think any form of Stress can Trigger them. Try meditation &/or Yoga to help. Be sure you are getting enough sleep, too. :)
As Robin said Monotherapy is Best. But, it ain't unusual, as you can see by others replies, to be on more than 1 med. Be sure to give your new med/dose at least 4-6 weeks to reach therapeutic levels. Take it from there. If side effects interfere w/ 'Quality of Life' or seizures continue, do not be afraid to Try another med or med combo.
Keep Learning all you can about Epilepsy/seizure disorders. It will Help you to become your own Best Advocate. :)
