Well last week was my first week back at work after being diagnosed with epilepsy in December and it was really really tough. I was sooo tired and drained by the time I got home from work. It's hard too because my job is very stressful and also is the type of job where you rarely ever only work 40 hours a week. I called my doctor today and she said that she is going to write a note restricting how much I can work to only 40 hours but it's still so very draining. It's very hard for me because I'm the type of person that usually just pushes through when things get tough and I can't push through this because if I do I just make myself feel worse. I also feel as though my memory and brain function just aren't what they used to be so I feel as though it is taking me three times a long to do the same things I used to be able to do so it's really very frustrating. I keep telling myself that I just have to take it one day at a time but its been a really tough few months with the diagnosis and now going back to work has been really tough too. :(
Also do people at your work know you have epilepsy? Good to tell, from a safety pt of view, for you. I've had epilepsy for 31yrs did not always tell employers...if seizures occurred definatley explained. And lastly I WISH I had a job....been unemployed for 3 yrs now...am not seizure free either.
