Sinus Infection-....From HELL

I have a sinus infection from hell. I am using eye drops for sensitive allergic eyes. I am also using honey lemon ricola throat drops for my everso burning throat. I also have breathe again nose spray because other nose sprays make me sick to my stomach, and I am also am not into putting steroids into my body. I also drink orange juice with lots of pulp. I also take levaquin for my infection because I am allergic to pennicillin. I was wondering. I feel like shit. MY mose and eyes continue to burn to no avail I have three cats, but I would be emotionally gone without them. They help comfort me when no one else can. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder and am also on psych meds as well. Without my cats, I'd probably would have been gone already. What can I do to comfort my burning eyes, nose, and throat, that I already am not doing?

perhaps washing your hands after you pet your cats, you prolly without realizing it pet them and then later touch around your eyes and then it becomes a cycle of rubbing your eyes and petting your cats. Hope you feel better soon.

Try boiling water (cup of tea?) and sitting with a towel draped over your head and your nose above the steam and just let it waft up into your nose and sinuses. That usually helps to loosen things. I think I once used a product called "Sinucleanse"...maybe Google this and see if it's still out there...or it's called something similar...it was good stuff. Also, try accupressure on your cheekbones (press into the center for 30 seconds each time, and in the bone notches that are in the center of each eyebrow (feel under the eyebrow up into the socket till you find them...press upward for 30 seconds each time). I hope you get some relief soon! Also, hot washclothes on your forehead and cheekbones help.

I wipe my cats off with damp paper towels. They don't mind and it gets the dust off of them.

Have you tried sinus irrigation. I use Ocean -- it's available at drugstores. It's just saline and you use it flush the sinuses. I find it helps move stuff out -- icky but effective.

I have recently learned that most sinus infections are not bacterial infections and therefore antibiotics don't do much. The U. of Minnesota is doing research on the fungus infections that get into our sinuses and they are working to develop fugicides. Once I learned about that I quit the nose sprays and antihistimes (they mess with my mood) and just started using the Ocean. They recommend a few sprays for dryness, but it's just saline so i just use as much as I can stand. It took a few days but then things really cleared up. I have to keep at it or it all comes back.

oh yeah, sometimes I flush my eyes with tap water, it seems to help -- not a cure, but a little relief.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
