Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Ok, they all have one: heart disease, breast cancer, lung cancer.
We need a shirt we can wear with pride. YES, we do. One that doesn't make women or men cringe. If people can talk about boobies on their t-shirt, we can talk about endo.
But! The endo foundation has one:

but it sucks. It is everything I don't want in a t-shirt. Could we design one ourselves? Could we brainstorm some ideas?
ALL ideas welcome. Even the really dumb ideas that will make us laugh and give us some additional pictures in our head or trigger some other idea...they are ALL welcome.
We should do this. There are a number of web sites where we could get them to print them for us. :-)

Maybe something on the back like;
"A Queen of England had it", (Queen Victoira)
"one of the most famous and beautiful movie stars had it" (Marilyn)
"A Country Singer has it" (Dolly Parten)
"A famous dancer has it" (Julie Anne Hough)
And then the word in bold and LARGE
"they all suffered from the incurable chronic disease; ENDOMETRIOSIS
I know there are a lot more famous people, but just an idea.
Or had anyone written a poem htey wouldnt mind sharing about about their trials with endo? And on the front a yellow ribbon or butterfly (like whyme has)-with whyme's permission-I love that tattoo!
Maybe under it in yellow something like "Endosisters", or "Endometriosis Awareness Century" (instead of month!) We need them to research it for 100 years, and more!

YES to celebrities. I was thinking the same thing. Also was contemplating shortening it to "endo" because endometriosis is a mouthful.
Also, let's come up with 2 or 3 solid designs. I agree that originally there was no way I was going to wear a shirt when I saw the pics, but then I thought F that!! It's just a bad design.
If people prey too much, I will just say "oh, some of my family members have it, so I support research." end of story. I don't have to share what I don't want to. but I do need to share that I support endo getting the attention it deserves.

Thief
My personal thief in the night is named Endometriosis.
She came one afternoon at around 4 p.m. She didn't attack from behind; she seeped through my skin and embedded herself inside my stomach. She set up shop there and has lived for 15 years and counting. Six surgeons have gone in after her but she only gives up a little of herself and finds another hiding spot. Why she chose me, I don't know. Really wish she hadn't. She thinks she is undefeated in our fight together but she is sadly mistaken.
On any given day she can be felt training for the next bout to come. Lately our bouts have come to a head once every twelve to fifteen
months but we have daily mini-bouts to keep us on our toes. She really needs to find a new opponent. I'm really tired of fighting but I refuse to give in to her. I guess thieves pick people they think are weak and they can beat down but she picked the WRONG one because I keep getting back up.
Also, it doesnt have to be yellow, maybe a louder color? But maybe turquiose? Love that color, and it pops like crazy!
if we shorten it to endo, which i understand why you'd want to, majority of people wont know what we're talking about. Not that they know what endometriosis is either, but shortening it im afraid might add confusion.
Endometriosis is as complicated of a word as the disease it-well almost. IDK
Do you wear shirts for other diseases? What do you like about some of those shirts?
sorry i have a very dark view on things but it would make people stand up and notice, ooh or an image of a hot poker being rammed through an image of a back on the back of the shirt and on the front it can say endometriosis...

Endowife, I really like the colors of your example and the quote on the back. I definitely like the ideas of putting the celebrities on it...maybe on the bottom half of the back?
I like the '1 in 8' statistic, too....that might help ppl see that its way more prevalent than most think. Maybe add it in after the Girlie pain is not normal. sentence..?

I did have that stat on there originally, but wondered if people would think it is too common. There is only speculation that it is that prevalent, but no proof in the number of diagnosis.
Also, should we have another one with the poem, or a few quotes from the poem?
