Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Ok, they all have one: heart disease, breast cancer, lung cancer.
We need a shirt we can wear with pride. YES, we do. One that doesn't make women or men cringe. If people can talk about boobies on their t-shirt, we can talk about endo.
But! The endo foundation has one:

but it sucks. It is everything I don't want in a t-shirt. Could we design one ourselves? Could we brainstorm some ideas?
ALL ideas welcome. Even the really dumb ideas that will make us laugh and give us some additional pictures in our head or trigger some other idea...they are ALL welcome.
We should do this. There are a number of web sites where we could get them to print them for us. :-)

I do see a theme: the yellow ribbon. What do you think about the ribbon? After all, I thought yellow ribbons were for veterans and teen suicide. We need our own symbol!!
I don't think anyone has chosen the pear - but maybe there's a reason for not using it. Thoughts? Pull me off my disillusional fantasy of seeing everyone with a little pear in the corner of their shirt.

I really like the 'Don't judge by appearances because what you can't see does hurt her'...we all put on fronts like we're okay or the pain isnt that bad....but we all know we're lying. Oh and dont forget the doctors that tell us we're making up the pain.
I like pink just because it is girly and endometriosis is a female problem, but that is mainly for breast cancer. What about purple or turquiose?

I looked up the slogan "fight like a girl" and it turns out there is a non-profit with a web site (thanks yankee for mentioning), and they support women fighting cancer and any other disease.
I still would like our own slogan because we should separate ourselves from cancer, right? Maybe not...
So if we go back to yellow, there are some yellow pears - but it is a stretch, no one has told me if I'm on crack for liking the idea of pears (like the shape of the uterus)...thoughts?
I just contacted the endometriosis foundation and told them I want to volunteer with them and they responded in like a day. Hmmm, he wants to know how I'd like to help out. I want to say "well for starters I want to redesign your t-shirt because I would not wear that thing!!" ha ha ha ha.
I do agree we need our own color to stand out and not be confused with Cancer or something else. i got the idea for my tattoo from the fight like a girl!
What about something that uses the statistics? I know when I heard that 176 million women globally suffer from endometriosis I was like -- wtf, why didn't I hear about this disease before!? Why did my doctors seem dumbfounded by textbook symptoms? This isn't a rare disease. But it is one that tends to be ignored and silenced.
So I was thinking of something like:
I am one of 176 million (on the front)
Ask me about endometriosis (on the back)
So it lets people know this isn't an uncommon disease, and it also encourages them to ask, "what the heck is endometriosis?"

Ok, here is a dumb q: how do we create graphics for cafe press? It would be nice if we could play around with it.

We've gone back and forth about the stats, which means we totally need multiple designs, where at least one contains the stats.
We can do this!! Create our own awesome shirts that we each would feel comfortable wearing!
I wish we could make shirts that said "Endometriosis is a bitch, when it kicks in, I turn into one also." But that may be looked down upon ;)
