Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
So, re: bleeding forever. It happens and can happen more often with endo. I wonder what our iron level is with so much bleeding, has he/she tested it recently?
I bled for 2 months, but it was because I had an ectopic pregnancy. One summer, many yrs ago I bled profusely for a month straight, it is scary, right?
Endo on the organs sounds bad. I agree with others, it may be time for a second opinion. I am frusterated because it is hard to find a doc, but you could call around and ask to speak to the doc before scheduling an appointment. I would ask if they have treated endo on organs before.
Hang in there...and let it allllllllll out here, k? :-)
Two weeks post surgery is not a lot of time....your body can take up to 9 months to fully recover from a Lap. I've had three and the first and third took a really long time to recover from and the second one didn't. And I don't have tons of endo and nothing was really done during my surgeries (I have a lot of scar tissue from old endo that was killed off by lupron and provera...and I have specks of active endo on my ureters and urethra that she can't removed because they are so small...and on those really tiny tubes...she'd cut or burn right thru my ureters.)
Endo does feed on estrogen so I have always been confused as to why drs prescribe anything with estrogen in it....even a little bit! I think a lot of women don't like the side effects of using something that doesn't have estrogen. They're not fun...but it's either deal with endo or deal with side effects.
I know it's very frustrating...I was dealing with endo for nearly 13 years before I finally got the diagnosis...I knew myself that i had it about 6 years before I got the diagnosis...but it took that long to find a dr who would do surgery and not just the drugs. One thing to try to remember is that even endo experts can't cure endo...they may know more about endo than most drs but endo has no cure.
Research, make yourself an expert and find a dr who is willing to listen to you, your concerns and your way of wanting to be treated.
Could you go to some other doc for the iron work and thyroid test?
How are your emotions holding up? it was really hard for me to bleed that long, it was just about not knowing, and feeling like my life sort of stopped, you know? It's like 'if I don't know why I'm bleeding so long, how do I know I'm ok?' I was so anxious, and then after the bleeding stopped, it was a huge relief. My shrink and I laugh about it now (ok, he doesn't laugh, it's not his style, but I did laugh) because I felt like I should have had more faith in my body.
Then again, it's super scary and I believe that we all deserve time to process our fears. Soooooo...how are your fears treating you today?
And yes me and my mom are going to go to my primary doctor and get all that done. I have know him since a baby so we have a great relationship.... To bad he wasn't a specialist -_- . I am also going to be having him help me find a new specialist.
My fears are treating me okay lol. I think I'm most afraid of disappointing someone like my future husband or my mom you know? I'm scared that I won't pursue my dreams because of this , but I'm very strong and will never give up !
Thanks for checking up, I really appriciate it :)
