i was watching a special on vh1 called "vh1 news presents: dr. drew's addiction special". they were talking about addictions and their effect on hollywood...what happens to the brain when a person becomes addicted, 12 step treatment programs, etc. and it just dawned on me. i'm watching this and i'm like "oh my god. there's not much difference between how a drug addict feels (emotionally i mean) and how i feel. the only difference is that my illness revolves around food." it was down right freaky to see how many similarities there were. they interviewed celebrity addicts in recovery. one of them said "it's easy to stop. the hard part is staying stopped." so true. for more info on the show, go to addictionspecial.vh1presents.com

I had to get as desperate with the food before this thing worked and I am now sponsoring others and
And we are not like normal people when it comes to certain foods, We have to abstain.
and Also, the remorse, shame, guilt, promises to give it up for good only to go right-back to it!
Over and over again making promises to go and turn around and do it all again.
Well, this is wh y I benefit so much from OA, as we read the AA literature there too, and take the 1st step of admitting we are powerless over food and compulsive eating as an alcoholic takes the 1step.
Bless you and I hope this continues to bring a new hope and freedom that this new beginning can bring.. I am not boasting in what I got, I owe it all to grace, and the steps and Others who walked before me.
