this is fucking ridiculous! i didnt post this because i wanted to trigger anyone or even because i wanted to entertain the board...i actually posted this AND Labeled it WOW because this woman's family...her family is treating her like mine has been treating me.....like an outsider....an insane person...someone they cannot stand the thought of being around...granted my dad doesnt say he is afraid of me killing them or that he cannot stand me..i know my parents love me but they are pushing me away because of my illness...they are scared...
and THAT is y i posted it...i could REALLY relate to her feelings of desperation of wanting to be loved and accepted...she was trying so hard! trying to do things to make her family proud! working hard etc....but it just wasnt good enough...she had an ed so she would never be good enough in their eyes...she was sick...she was shit....
since i related with her feelings i thought perhaps someone else would to.......
but i guess that was all too much for some of u to grasp....for u guys...in the future dont click on my posts! thank u and have a nice day!
and beiceth...u were dead on in ur first response to this post when u said that i related with this girl and her family interactions....thats y u and i r such good friends...we get one another...we understand each other
Though I cannot watch Intervention any longer and hence not clicking on this link (due to my knowledge of what happens after the cameras shut off and the damaging/exploitative nature of the show), from what you describe, Missy, it sounds like I can also relate. I'm sure a lot of us can relate, in fact!
My father has been very hostile towards me since I discharged from Remuda Ranch, and though I don't know what Kim's father said to her exactly, I know my own dad has said very cruel things about my struggles behind my back. To date, I know, flat-out, that he thinks it is a vanity/medication issue, and that I just need to knock it off, as he said this to my face (and has since I was about 15, and he actually began to notice). However, I distance myself from him as he is poison for my own recovery. Also, I know how it feels to be "the sick one" in the family, as it seems like whenever I go over to visit my mother (rarely, these days), she has to comment on my weight. Not only that, but she completely diminishes the importance of my job, and has since day one when I got my very first job. "You aren't spending enough time with the family!" or "Well, if you don't come to your sister's birthday party, her self-esteem issues are on your conscience!" This coming from the woman who has not worked in 21 years. Sigh. It never seems like enough, does it?
But I think the important thing that we ALL need to do is remember that it IS enough, and that WE ARE ENOUGH by just BEING who we are! By listening to the outside chitter-chatter, we are just encouraging the ED to creep in and whisper evil nonsensical drivel in our ear.
Missy, I think you explained yourself very well. You also explained why a post like this can help ppl.
and yazz, lily, rflp, and beiceth thank u for ur support and understanding as to y i posted this....its rather personal to me....it really hit home in a way that i hope no one else has to deal with...having ur family not want to be around u because ur sick...that hurts...but if this is how ur family is...know u r not alone
