Do you think that your opinion could be affected by the ED trying to defend watching a programme that is triggering or "encouraging"?

lily, I dont know. I honestly find the show encouraging, thats my most honest opinion... maybe what I find encouraging isnt encouraging to others... i do know the show is exploitative... but I take whats I feel is good out of it..

Eeek. I've kept from saying something but I have to agree........ Why post something like that on a support board? What was the real motivation to do so? That's like sticking a toddler in a room full of buttons and telling them not to press any. Big difference being though, that when they press a button it typically doesn't harm them. THIS can be blatantly harmful. *trigger warning or not* just like lily, I too know some good friends that have been in documentaries and HATED it afterwards. Rediculous "drama" editing, not to mention the sheer embarrassment and guilt knowing how they could possibly be a "trigger" to people with the issues that could potentially watch it. Not thinking about this all until it was all shot and done. Now, I personally am not triggered by it persay *though its because I also refuse to observe an exploitation of someone* but it does slightly anger me and put me in to protective momma goose mode knowing that this could be extremely harmful to others recovery ect. There are different levels of recovery. Not everyone is "ok" enough to not be affected by blatent posts like this. =/ let's be here to support ladies.

I believe in others sharing what they find informative, however didn't we just go through this with asking people to put "possible trigger" in the subject line? WOW doesn't exactly say possible trigger. The video didn't trigger me as I have seen the whole episode before, that's not my point. What I would like to say is Yazzz, no you would have noticed I was an alcoholic if you clicked on my status/thingy. And I am dying of laughter because of course I know you can die from drinking. I took offense that you made a comment like that. It made me think of ignorance. Don't you think you can die of an eating disorder?

I'm not sure why when people differ in opinions it has to become a fight. She warned us it may trigger ....
I watched it just bc of all the fighting going on about it. It didnt trigger me at all. It broke my heart and made me want to get over my ED that much more.
People are different and respond differently to things. Her posting this will help some of us ....

intheblues, I just dont understand. I do not research everyone on here before I post, there are too many ppl to do that. What is so bad about saying I saw an alcoholic on there that died? You watch the show dont you? makes no sense.

of course I know you can die from an eating disorder thats why I am in recovery and have gotten help. You dont really know the nature of my ED tho bc you have researched me either...

Wow another drama. Just to add my two cents, this video was not triggering for me for two reasons. Nr 1, it seemed kind of fake (I've never watched the show)
Nr 2 (which will probably get me killed on here): the girl wasn't skin and bones and didn't look like she was dying. I know that's a horrible thing to say and I know that ED comes in all sizes, but I'm just saying for me the girl didn't look ill enough to trigger me.
Now help me God with everyone's reactions to my comment.

I'm not really interested in joining the debate...

but I just watched a minute or so and it seemed very...overdone. Everyone is different, sure, but I have to wonder what's going on when someone parades herself around in her underwear on television. Maybe I didn't see enough of it to tell...but she seemed pretty comfortable with herself. I don't want to minimize the severity of her struggles. I do, however, have to agree with those who have said the episode is a poor portrayal of EDs.
