I have not lost a job because of it but I was not considered for increased responsibility either. When you have a problem with organization, speaking clearly the first time and not being accurate with figures,well, you don't seem like good material.
This was what I experienced in my teens. I basically beleived that I was dumb. I know better now:)

Yup, I lost a few jobs b/c they thought I stole money, and at the time I didn't know I had dyslexia...its best not to take jobs that deal with money or numbers, or alot of reading.

I did once have a job a long time ago but the company moved so I had to quit it. I loved it too My boss/Dad already knew I had it so he helped me out when I didn't even know it ( I didn't know at the time I had Dyslexia) Nice picture by the way, That movie was really cute and funny : )

i never lost a job but i have left jobs because i was nervous about messing up. At one job i had to file...and yeah i left because i have to do the abc's in my head b4 i filed everything so i was super slow and other people that worked there would look at me. Also i act, but i'm afraid of having to read infront of them, like what if they don't give me time to read it b4.

people keep telling jobs i should be doing
and im backing off because i wont beable to cope

i dont tell them why but if the pressuer keeps up its going to be easyer to just say something

i was forward with my job when i applied. I'm a cashier. everyone tells me i count the cash draw down weird and i told them it's the only way I can count without messing up.

also if i say there's an error with the cash draw they count it down the 2nd time instead of me re-counting a second time.

I screwed up a lot to the point they did not know what to do with me anymore. It felt like school all over again. Because of my dyslexia, I have become a perfectionist, detailed oreinted and very thorough in my work. I am always nervous and sometimes feel incompetent.

Yes this has happened to me. But happened was they did not like me because of my LD and wanted me to leave. I was called all sorts of horrible names. But I decided that I was not going to let them get to me.

a lot of you have very good points, but there was a replay to this post that I dunno kinda stood out from all the rest, in it it said its' better not to take jobs that deal with money or numbers.... I can see there point but we can't be afrad to get a job that we like.... for example... I have been a machine tool electrican for going on 8 years... I have never lost a job due to having dyslexia. The key is to do the best job you can do. Not to be afrad to take chances because you have dyslexica.

Oh Yea! I can't count how many, I just move on and try to find something I can be happy with.
