I often spell my husband name as brain instead of Brian lol.
Homophones are my pet hate, they are similar sounding words, with different spelling, shear/sheer, stairs/stares, suite/sweet, tern/turn, to/too/two, raise/rays, sore/soar/saw, your get the picture. I had to get the dictionary out to make sure spelt them right.
Up until about two years ago I would often write pacific instead of specific, (and a few other words) I could not work out why the teachers/lectures would underline the word, with a question mark, it was only when a friend proof read an assignment for me, that I found out why lol.

I am more likely to miss type the words not miss spell it. I mean I may know full well how to spell the word. I am not a very good typist but my fingers think I am. Boy! Are they ever wrong! If I am writing with a pen I do not miss spell as many common words. I will miss spell big words. But then who would know I miss spelled them , my hand writing is so bad not even I can tell what I wrote even if I spelled it correctly. I type almost every thing, So I can use spell check. Even here on DS, I will
Type my comments in a Word document and spell check and all that. Then cut and paste it back to DS. Other wise no one could read what my speed demon finger typed. I have to look at the key board to type. And even then I hit the wrong keys or put letters in the wrong order. I am whispering the word and it letters as I type and looking for the letter on the keyboard. So I am not looking at the screen. When I do look up, OH MY, MY! What is all that gibberish? It takes my a long time to get thing in order so you can possibly read what I typed.
