For all you cooks out there!!! My Mom & Grandmother taught me to cook at a young age.
There is nothing more satisfying to me than cooking a great meal for my family & friends.
I can cook any type of cuisine. So lets share some GOOD EATS!!!!
I made this for dessert, yesterday. It was Deeelish! Copied from Southern Living.
1 (8-ounce) container sour cream $
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 1/4 cups sugar, divided
1 cup shortening or butter
6 large eggs $
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced $
Sweetened whipped cream
Preparation
Stir together 1 container sour cream and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda; set mixture aside.
Beat 3 cups sugar and 1 cup shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until blended after each addition.
Stir together 3 cups flour and salt. Add to egg mixture alternately with sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan, and cool completely on wire rack.
Toss together sliced fresh strawberries and remaining 1/4 cup sugar; let stand 30 minutes. Serve pound cake with sliced strawberries and sweetened whipped cream.
Grilled Pound Cake: Bake and cool pound cake as directed. Brush 2 tablespoons melted butter evenly over both sides of 6 (1 1/2-inch-thick) pound cake slices. Grill, covered with grill lid, over medium-high heat (350° to 400°) 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until lightly toasted. Serve pound cake with sliced fresh strawberries and sweetened whipped cream.
I'm gonna come back to this you guys are making me hungry.....
I rarely use a recipe unless I'm baking but I like this....
boil a chicken like you're making soup, pull the chicken off the bones, add a tiny bit of sesame oil and soy sauce to taste add chopped green onions... serve cold or hot with rice.
yes, brussell sprouts, Fry up a couple strips of bacon, remove & crumble, add the sprouts and onions
and brown. Salt & pepper, right near the end some red wine vinegar. Sometime I'll add some sugar
or honey for some sweetness. And sometimes a little red pepper flakes if I'm feeling firey!!!
Mmm! Saffron rice!! It IS expensive, and that's why there is none in my pantry! Love pineapple upside down cake!! Every year for my Dad's bday we had one! (which would have been tomorrow) Enjoy a slice tomorrow for me, mama.
I'm in love with the "smash" burger technique. Small amount of ground sirloin, (or ground beef of your choice ) salt and pepper. form a 3 or 4 oz meatball, season..(don't touch it to much, just make a rough patty, the less handled the better) .. heat up cast iron skillet to very hot, throw burger ball on, cook half a minute, smash down, cover for 2 minutes, flip over put on cheese cover for another 2 minutes. Fast, easy and yummy! They are a perfect fit for the small buns. If you are extra hungry make it a double.
Oo my oldest son would absolutely freak if you smashed a burger..... yike aroo
don't think I'll be baking for a while... does anyone remember Aunt Jemima Coffee Cake? add an egg to the bag and it came with it's own pan....
