Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
As a lot of you know, I'm pretty early in this whole crappy process. But today was my ah-ha moment, one of those pivitol moments when things become clear and change things forever. I won't go into the details of what happened, but suffice it to say that I realize now how little I really mean to my stbx, and how little respect she has for me. I now have more resolve to get this divorce wrapped up as quickly as possible, and move on with my life.
I guess in the back of my mind I still held out hope that he'd come to her senses and call the divorce off, and we could work on rebuilding. Now I know that's really not going to happen. Or maybe more accurately, even if she did, I wouldn't take her back. Her blatant disregard for my feelings and beliefs, along with the selfishness she has shown recently is beyond what I can forgive. I have effectively shut that that door. I will be taken for granted and walked all over no more!
Anyone else have one of those moments that changed everything in the relationship?

I ripped him up one side and down the other letting him know in no uncertain terms that that was NOT going to happen and next time we mediated, I'd be bringing my lawyer with me. It was at that meeting that he was someone I didn't even know any more nor cared to know.
Fast forward 8 years and now that same daughter is 23 and lives with the man who she said she'd talk to 3 judges if she had to, but she was NOT living with him. If I was single, she'did still be living with me, but she diesn't care for my new husband.
