OH Gosh Kim,

I am so so sorry.....I know how painful it is losing my pets they don't feel like pets they are a part of you. I am so sorry for your loss. I would go out in the woods and cry my head off so no one could hear it hurt so bad it did help I think. Do you have anywhere you could do that. I just wailed. For days........

Thank you, Jenny. Yes, I've been sobbing all day. It's a good thing the walls in this house are well insulated. But, the neighbors know and have been very kind.

It's still a bit surreal. I'm really worried about what happens from here. He was such a comfort to me. So much love in such a little package.

Oh, Kim, I know the sadness that surrounds making an end of life decision for our lovely pets. Especially when they have been with us through a pretty rough time in our lives.

Know that you made the most difficult decision that a responsible pet owner ever has to make, but you surely did what was in Champion's best interest.

I believe that we will be reunited with our animal family in the next life.

Thank you, Kathi. Yes, I believe that, too. In fact, while I was snuggling with him today before I had to take him to the vet, I told him that I knew we'd be together again one day.

I know in my heart God is going to bring us back together again !!!!! That love does not just disappear.

Kim, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. My best friend ever/golden/lab mix Taz had to leave us a couple of years before my divorce. Going through such a painful process without that love was so hard. I'm glad your Champion was there for you when you needed him, and I'm glad you were there for him when he needed you. It's a very hard price to pay for the priceless gift of time with them, but we all know it's worth it.

Kim - I am so very sorry for your loss. Our pets are a part of our family and they give such unconditional love and companionship. My kitties have been my companions during this separation/divorce and I know what losing any of them would feel like. You made the right decision as hard as it was. You gave him a wonderful life and he brought joy to yours as well. I know you will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are a strong woman and a survivor. You will get through this.

So sorry for your loss, Kim. It is definitely one of the hardest decisions we ever have to make. I know how much you must miss him. They fill our lives with so much joy especially when we are going through difficult times. Hugs.

Thank you all for your kindness and words of comfort. It truly means a lot to me. It's so deafeningly quiet here without my little guy. I already miss him so much.

Awww I'm sorry..
My cairn terrier died about 5 Months after my ex wife split. She was about 11 I believe, ate fine that morning and found she had died when I got home from work. My daughter and I were devastated. We did end up rescuing a shih tzu after a while from a local shelter and it has really helped.
Sorry for your loss...I know how this hurts..take care and I do believe you will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge one day :)

Oh Kim, I'm so sorry about your baby. I understand how you feel completely. I lost my almost 13 yo Shih tzu MuShu last month. He also had a stroke and after a day at the doggie hospital (the vet thought he had a serious ear infection but I had a feeling he was much worse) I insisted he come home with me because they had already given him IV antibiotics and so there was nothing more for them to do there. He died that night very peacefully laying next to me in bed. He never moved so I know he didn't suffer. I had to carry him out to pee before bedtime and I put a baby diaper on him that night. I kissed him and told him I loved him. I know he had a great life and I felt good about that. I still have my Rocky (another Shih tzu) who will be 14 1/2 next month. I know how you feel about the loneliness because I can't imagine coming home to an empty house without him to greet me. I hope you feel better soon - be glad he was with you during his life as I'm sure that he had a wonderful life. Our pets are family and we love them so much. My favorite quote:
"Lord, help me to be as good as my dog thinks I am." Or something like that :) Or: "I like dogs better than people." So true!

I'm sad for your loss a dog is a lot more than a pet.
A dog probably knows us better than most people that we are close to.

Champion was a good dog, a smart dog, and a happy dog, happy he considered himself to a lucky dog because he was your dog

I know the feeling .
We (my x) and I had one dog and three cats.
Not all at the same time
My last cat ( whiley) died about a year after my x left
He stayed with me all the time......he was all that I had..,....that I'm sure loved me.
Anyway........sometimes I think that I !miss my Whiley more then my x . lol.
Think about it this way Kim......,. All the love and fun that you gave each other........it's something to be thankful for.
