Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

So how long did it take everyone else to come out of denial and realize that their spouse was gone for good? I guess for me it took until tonight. He didn't want to tell my daughter who is in college before her finals. My son has known for about a week. I held my 16 year-old as he cried. So today was the day for my daughter. I worried all day. And then after a long trip home, he pulls over and tells her. She cries her eyes out the rest of the way. He can't understand why she doesn't want to hold his hand. She walks in the door, and it's just the three of us. My son, my daughter, and me, crying, hugging and holding on tight. He walked away with barely a backward glance. And that's when I knew he was gone for good. If the sight of his children in such grief didn't stop him, nothing would. I asked the kids what he had told them. And he told them that he needed to be happy, that they were big enough to deal with a divorce, and even though he loved them this other life with this new family was what he wanted. This is the same man who promised my kids and me over and over that nothing would ever break our family, and that our family was the most important thing in the world to him.
So I guess I am coming out of denial. None of this nightmare is going to go away. And I'm devastated, and I'm tired, and I'm scared, and I'm hurt, and I'm angry, and I am all out of hope.

I had gone to the grocery store. When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute. A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked. I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds. But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026. I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away. It was an ordinary middle age...

(Some plan)
I think a lot of us have been at your last sentence ... "No hope",
I certainly was and I do still wobble,
The hope I never gave up on is hoping the best for my kids
Hoping the best for them spreads hope around a bit.
And gave/gives me some to hang onto myself
----God has a plan, either our or someone eludes choices muck it up, God sends us a new call"
Her betrayal & choice to divorce is too recent for me to have and tell you of my success from despair,
My kids are still hurting and trying to sort out the new normal, they are resilient and are more okay than not
I pray that the best thing, the right thing, works out for them, I pray the same for myself ,
On bad days I hold on to hoping for them
On really bad days I hope for hope
Hang in there, you are a good parent and regardless of you kids ages, they'll need you on their lives even if it is on their terms at times
You are a good person, the people you touch thrive a bit from the intreraction
Remember, in the dark, at the stormiest, you can hope for hope, always knowing that your kids hope the best for you
And here at DS many people have worn similar shoes as you,
They have experience and know that there is reason for you to hope for yourself.
And they hope the best for you
I hope for you
(Thanks for your post --- I know it is sad but you gave me the chance to see just how powerful two and four words can be:
I hope
I hope for you)
I kept her secret, she benighted from my carrying it, my carrying her secret did not protect my kids, it only protected her and her mr wonderful, neither of them had an interest is the 3 of us trying to figure what was best for the kids in the long run.
If there are children, the management of the secret is really about how the truth comes put and us dealt with or it is about denying reality - - - which is just stupid and does not help the kids in the short or long term
I'm so sorry.
sending healing hugs.
Divorce is tough -- and even more so when you have younger kids -- but there is LIFE at the end of the tunnel. Keep your faith in YOURSELF and in your HIGHER POWER. It takes time, distance and no contact to move out of the worst of it, but you can and will get there!
Sending you big squeezy hugs! xoxo
