I had my first diverticulitis attack in May followed by surgery to drain the abscess from my colon. This week after a failed colonoscopy, the surgeon scheduled me for this Friday to remove a section of my sigmoid colon in addition to repairing the fistula damage to my bladder. Needless to say, I about freaked out when she said I will be in a minimum of 7 days, and most likely 10. The colon is currently just about totally blocked.
I am not a candidate for laparoscopic surgery as my stomach muscles were replaced with mesh after a TRAM reconstruction from breast cancer 15 years ago. The thought of her cutting through that mesh is scary enough in itself.
I do have a lot of faith in my surgeon and really thought I could deal with just about anything after my previous cancer, but this has really got me depressed, weepy and losing a lot of sleep. Any words of advice or suggestions are sure appreciated.

Because of me being such a bad pain candidate, I am so thankful my surgeon and the anesthesiologist agreed that an epidural block was the best pain solution for me. It was miraculous in itself. Thanks you all again for your prayers and support!
