Flagyl and Bactrim

Saturday, 12/14, I went to the ER and was diagnosed with uncomplicated diverticulitis of the sigmoid colon by CT, labs did not indicate an infection, just inflammation of the lower intestine. I got IV Rocephin there and then Flagyl and Bactrim to go home twice a day. I have taken them every day and since Monday have been so nauseated and feel bad. I am following a low fiber diet but i do not want to eat at all. IT is making me so anxious. Anyone have any ideas or experienced this? My primary care doctor is out so i have no one following me.

Do you eat with the antibiotic? Some you have to eat something. Sounds more like you are more anxious about this too. I have been thru attacks for more than 20 years and they go away after a few days. This is only day 3 or so for you. The antibiotic sometimes makes it seem worse too. The pain and inflammation will go away in a few days and you will feel better. Try to relax and get rest. Take all the pills and if you need more( which you probably won't), call dr and tell them. I had to get a few more days for bladder infection recently and it worked wonders. I have had both pills you are on but don't remember getting the iv one.

I’m in the same place right now as well. Drink lots of water and a soft diet of soups. Soup helps when you take your meds to lesson some of the nausea. I tried ice cream bad idea for me. Beginning to realize Foods that work are different for everybody. I look at it like baby food, what can you feed an infant.
My meal with is two bites of a banana and about a cup of soup, just to something in my stomach.

Those antibiotics are awful!!!!I came across this on Facebook-called Pain Free Foods Support Group. They also have a website:www.diverticulitispainfreefoods.com They use a combined way of eating and you can’t eat certain foods with other. I ordered the book and started the plan. I also keep a food journal to see what is causing my flare-ups. Believe me its a different way of eating, but I get a lot of recipes off Pinterest ( I went vegan). I also take a Probiotics, Udo’s oil 3-6-9, Turmeric, Magnesium, K2, COQ10, a greens powder, slippery elm, before I eat at every meal. I feel great now, it took some time like I said to figure it out, but NO SURGERY for me. And those antibiotics, I tell the hospital I’m allergic to them (they are awful). I take oil of oregano, some people take GSE (grapefruit seed extract) during a flare-up. Get the book it tells you everything and the Facebook site is awesome and you can get some great support and answers. Its explained in the book, we are different then normal people and will have this disease for life, so try it what have you got to lose- Good luck!
