I've been on 2 rounds of Cipro & Flagyl. This 2nd time for 11 days. It really makes me feel ill. Worked the first time, but still feel "something" this time. We'll see.

Makes you wonder what they treated this condition with before Cipro and Flagyl. If you read on under diverticulitis, you will find a posting about an over the counter product called "Bee Propolis". Google it and read up on it as it has natural antibiotic properties. It has helped me. Not to say that you should go against what your Doc prescribes but worth a try.

Has anyone ever tried Donnatal Elixir? It worked for me for years before I even knew I had Diverticulitis. It's cheap and starts making you feel better in minutes.

Had excellent results with those meds twice a day for 15 days. Added Yogurt capsules, plus ate yogurt and took some pantaloc tablets to line my stomack, first thing in the morning.

Not a movie about BP, just the character that has it, most of depiction of his states is good. I could relate to much.

Cipro really works for me, no reaction. Make sure to eat something with the meds. I also use it for cystitis, infection of the bladder.... terrible pain..Cipro (same strength) stops the pain in a few minutes, it's unbelievable.

I took cipro/flagyl during the first to attacks and this one attack I am healing from (3rd in short time)sent me to the hospital by ambulance, but was released on levaquin/flagyl. It seems to me the cipro worked faster. And the levaquin/flagyl combo on now is causing nausea.

Thanks for your reply. I found Cipro and Flagyl a good combination. I took Yogurt capsules two serving of real Yogurt and to protect my stomach I took Pantaloc. Luckily no nausea with this combo. Good Luck.

I'm on Cipro and Flagyl right now orally (last day of a 2 week RX) and not sure if my discomfort is due to the antibiotics or the Divericulitis inflamation. I've had good luck with these (this is my 3rd time on them and have always had them together) so I can't tell which does what.

I do know its a good idea to take with food of course, but also helps to start on Probiotics (including Acidopholis/yogurt cultures) that keep the good microbes in your gut from being killed off and helps to avoid thrush or yeast infection.

One of the drugs must not be taken with any dairy products or it doesn't work properly. So I kept a calendar of my hours otherwise I couldn't keep it straight. Ask your pharmacy to give youindications. Renee

I was on Cipro/Flagyl for 3 months and it didn't work. The Flagyl was very nauseating and I lost over 40 lbs. I finally saw a surgeon, and he immediately admitted me to hospital for IV Zosyn and total bowel rest which finally got the infection knocked down, but not completely. Discharged from hospital on Augmentin/Doxycycline for 3 weeks followed by sigmoid resection. He said my infection was "smoldering" and never completely went away. 3 weeks post-op and I am almost 100% recovered.

You should never take any dairy products six hours before and at least 1.5 hours after taking Cipro (if I'm remembering that correctly.)

My first two bouts with diverticulitis wound up taking quite a long time to heal before I read the fine print on the Cipro warning labels.

BTW, this is my first post here -of hopefully many. I've seemed to keep my condition under control for over two years now.

As far as movies go, loved it! Richard Gere is hard not to like in this. I was excited/horrified at the same time as I could see some of myself and what happened to me. I too was running away and declaring I was ok. Thanks a lot AlliMac. I'm looking to buy it. Only not a swearer myself so the F word was a downer but overall the grandious is how it is when you're in a mania state.

Fantastic movie........My husband and I saw it when it was in the movies in 1993. I do not suffer from high manias but it helped my husband understand the variations of Bipolar.
I have recommended Mr.Jones to all of my friends, family and others with Bi polar.
Thanks for bringing this movie up...even as old as it is; it is a pure depiction of mania untreated along with the difficulties of staying on meds at that time.
