I have had excellent results with cipro 500 mg/and flagual 500 mg together,taken twice a day.yes it works but it takes several days to heal the flare up.Its very powerful so its hard on the stomach lining.

I get cipro and flagel when I have problems with Diverticlitis, It takes a few daysbefore I start feeling better, but it has worked. I have a friend I work with that can not take cipro though he has issues with diverticlititis, he said he get stiffing of his joints from the med, and he is having surgery this fall to help prevent any more occuring diverticulitis.

I agree with Doodlebug. I've had excellent results when I've taken these together.
It makes me have a bit of nausea, but I can live with that if it helps with the problem.

I had cipro and flagyl combined and they put me down pretty hard... Combined with not eating for days, reflux, and the strong gastric effects of the antibiotics, I lost my voice for over a month due to refluxing on my vocal cords at night. An acid inhibitor (aciphex) finally solved it. I can't afford that stuff, though, so I switched to prilosec at the doctor's advice. I've also been given an emergency prescription for doxycycline to fill in case I can't see a doctor right away (which is usually the case, not having insurance). Short answer is, cipro combined with flagyl did work, sort of... but they really hurt the rest of my GI system at the time too.

I seldom have any reactions to medications. I took the flagual and Liviquin. It killed all the good stuff in my gut and I got Thrush mouth. LOL Powerful medicine.

I had ask my surgeon about levaquin and he told me reaserch indicates minimal use as it can make us more susseptible to the Clostridium difficile (C. difficile infection)... not sure but i think aka Norwalk.

For my first attack I had IV Cipro and Flagyl. On the 3rd day I broke out in hives all over. They stopped the Flagyl and they went away. Continued on Cipro for a week after the hospital but the infection still smoldered and I went on clindomyecin which finally cleared it. Second attack, IV Cipro and Clyndo in hospital (Memorial Day). Started having numbness and tingling in right foot and both hands. Went home with both drugs for another week. The numbness in the foot continued for the next eight weeks which was when I had my third attack. Didn't have to be in hospital this time, having caught it earlier. But during the second week of the Cipro the numbness was spreading and pain was coming up from my foot. Asked my doctor who said Flagyl could cause that side effect but not Cipro. WRONG. I googled it and many cases of neuropathy happen with Cipro. Most (72%) will resolve in two months or so which is what happened with me. It was pretty scary so if you experience anything like it on Cipro you might want to run it by your MD and switch to something else. Don't let them tell you you're crazy! My problem now is that I'm running out of effective drugs that can take. going to see a surgeon this Wednesday. I'll let you all know what I find out. Pam

I've used bot the Cipro/Flagy and Leviquen/Flagy. While C/F stops the paid faster the Cipro eats my insides up. L/F works but slower.. been sick now a little over a year and have had so much C/F or L/F that I wish my Dr would say time for surgery --- :-(
