Its really hard to lose weight when my husband is not onboard. He likes to make food taste really good by adding cheese, butter and fatty oils. We've discussed eating healthier together but it never sticks. Since we've been married (almost a year now) I've gained 40 lbs!
I just joined this group to try to make a dedication to myself to start off by losing the 40 lb I've gained and go from there to my goal weight. I am a fast food junkie and there is alot of habits that I need to break.
I started walking on the treadmill today and will try to control things with portion control to start with. Any advice?

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

In other words, what your partner does may or may not change, and when you make the effort to lose the weight, the same situation that you are dealing with now is still going to be there when you take the weight off.
You have to decide how you are going to build your arsenal to help you say no. The food is not forbidden, just not the first choice.
Hope this helps.
You are not alone, hang in there, it will happen, and here you can vent, to help!
I'm teaching my nine y/o daughter to read the back of pretzel bags to "divvy" out a serving into a ziploc baggie when she wants a snack. We simply don't buy danishes and donuts...except, perhaps for special occasions. I splurge and buy cheetos sometimes...but, for the most part...we grill/sear our meats, always have a veggie with our meals and I spend the extra cash and get the 100 calorie packs of cookies for the times that we may have a sweet tooth. I know myself, and if I buy it...someone WILL eat it...and I don't want to do that to my family. This is not to say that we don't allow ourselves a tasty treat now and again. Moderation and control is the key.
My recommendation to you would be....take control. Buy what YOU need to keep yourself on track. Get into the kitchen and teach HIM a thing or two. I actually come home from the gym one night and prepared a meal (not a particularly lean and healthy) for my family and made a tuna and spinach salad for myself. I simply chose not to eat that particular meal. I chose to prepare what I needed. There are so many resources online with great tasting recipes that are not only low in calories...lower in fat as well. Harsh as it sounds...there really are no reasons....only excuses. Nevermind the weight..eat for your health.
Only you can make the choice to eat it or not.
good luck!
You need to add these things in little amounts slowly. The surprising thing is that they are not hard to make. But so tasty. Good luck.
