im a type 2 diabetic I don't take care of my diabetes at all don't take my insulin much or meds ik a lil about dialysis but not much so I was wondering can it happen to young ppl im only 26 so im young and in my prime if it can happen to me I assume not to many young ppl get it I assume its mostly acient ppl lol but anyway if u choose not to do dailisi will u be dead quick like ik diabetes can kill u but its a slow painfull death lets say I got put on dialysis but I refused like would I be dead with in a yr I think ppl my age can get put on it but im not 100% im very scared with the road I take it will happen soon and honestly with how depressed I am I just don't care what happens to me If I got put on dialysis I would prolly refuse cause of where im at meantlly HELL I got a toe amputated in feb still haven't changed

Hi Rayray215. Yes, you can get put on dialysis at age 26. My advice would be to seek help from a mental health facility (therapist, psychiatrist) to talk about the way you are feeling. Maybe find a social worker that could help you get your diabetes under control and talk about your options as well as the way you are feeling.

FIND SOMEONE WHO IS NOT TOO HEAVY-HANDED RE: DIABETES. OTHERWISE THEY WILL DRIVE YOU NUTS & SCARE YOU MORE. GET SOME CLEAR ANSWERS IF YOU 'NEED' DIALYSIS [YOU MAY HAVE TO PRESS THEM [I'M IN LIMBO]. A SHRINK WHO IS ALSO A DOCTOR IS A WAY TO GO & MIGHT HELP YOU ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS. THIS GROUP IS NOT MUCH HELP RE: DIALYSIS SO TRY TO GET SUPPORT IN THE REAL WORLD [MY ADVICE]. GOOD LUCK, KIDDO. TRY TO BE POSITIVE.

I guess I am one of those ancient people at 68 right now, but 8 yrs ago I had total kidney shutdown and was in ICU. I could have died but did not, instead, I was put on dialysis for a few months, but the kicker is, I was able to get off of it.
I still have kidney disease, Stage III, and Renal cancer, with 1/3 of my left kidney removed a couple of years ago,...no dialysis at this time...vow not to go back on it,...that is just my personal decision.
You are young,...give yourself every chance you can! good luck to you!
