Taking Ace Inhibitor for prevention of kidney dise

I have Type Two diabetes. Have had it for about eight years. Asked my doctor if i could use ace inhibitor even though I don't have and never had high blood pressure. He said ok. Now I'm wondering if this is good idea.
I am 61 years old. Dad had type two diabetes and died of heart failure caused by kidney failure. Mom has stage four kidney disease.

I would definitely keep a close watch on my B/P if I were you. If your B/P is normal and you're taking an ace inhibitor it could make your pressure drop dangerously low.
If there are other issues I'm unaware. You could call your pharmacist and ask them.
I've learned that my pharmacist knows the meds so much better than my doctor does.

my dr put me on a BP pill because of diabetes only....I do not have high blood pressure but he said it was to help save my kidneys....

I don't have high blood pressure either but the Doc put me on Cozaar, he said one of the side effects would help with the neuropathy in my legs....sure enough it does I have not had that pain since I started taking the pill.

    So mad at Xfinity!  They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today!  Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today.
