Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

I have diabetes and I also have mental illness and autoimmune disease. I take medication that pushes my blood sugar up but I eat healthy. I have an excellent Endocrinologist and Primary doctor that work together to manage my care. I also take a lot of wonderful vitamins and supplements. I drink plenty of water and stay active to. I am overweight but I am losing weight and slowly watching the scale go down. I take Janumet, Glucatrol,Actos,Lantus, and Cinnamon with Chromium and Fiber. I only take the Lantus at night according to a scale if it is needed. Many nights I do not need to take Lantus before bed it depends on what my blood sugar is before bed. My blood sugar is controlled and my a1c is within a healthy range but it is higher and harder to manage because of the medication I have to take for my psychiatric care and to treat my autoimmune disease.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon
