Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
This may seem odd for a man to join in on a depression issue.Men are the Rock, the Strong, but I have seen myself go down then up again and be so Happy to someone who wants to and MUST BEAT THIS.Never thought of doing this because I am really a shy person. The reason I say this and for it to be true I BEAT this in 1999 when my wife passed away very sudenly @ the age of 44. Now the enemy has come back again. Did I beat it or am I not the man that I am supose to be.I AM SICK OF BEING SICK. NEED TO FEEL GOOD AGAIN. NEED TO TAKE MY ON ADVICE somewhere the LIGHT IS NOT ON. I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

Welcome to our group! I am sorry for the circumstances that brought you here, but pleased to meet you.
I have two little brothers who have depression and a father with depression and PTSD. I have seen them one day completely fine then a moment later falling to pieces and just needing someone to be there and let them know its not the end of the world.
I also have depression and I have battled it countless times since my childhood. I am learning coping mechanisms everyday such as breathing exercises, soft music and having a workout routine everyday does so much good to keep me from having anxiety.
You just need to find what works best for you when fighting off the enemy. Whether its going for a walk, calling up a friend just to chat or finding a new hobby or going for a drive, so long as its healthy you'll find a way. *hug*
If you'd never had depression you wouldn't worry that it had 'come back' you would just accept this as something in your life. That's what it is - a new event, a new problem.
You're in a new place and this is a new challenge. and you clearly are good at rising to the challenge. So be kind to yourself, get lots of rest and vitamins, and let yourself get through this one too. :)
Don't let "society" tell you what is right or wrong.
