Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Depression just totally sucks the life out of you. Period the end. Add in stress, anxiety, mental/physical health issues, not as close to family as I use to be, and just a couple of friends, throw in a 29yr marriage that has been on shaky ground for at least 10 of them and now in a state of ambivalence. Leaves me with a WTF life am I living? Therapist, psychiatrist, self help books, meds, mindfulness, and now what? God helps but I'm still very far from feeling like there is hope somewhere down the line. ☹️

Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light. John 12:36, NIV

According to His riches in glory refers to a biblical promise found in Philippians 4:19, which states that God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This verse emphasizes God's provision and generosity towards believers.

Reach out to the family that you don’t feel as close to, just a quick text to let people know you are thinking of them. You don’t have to share your troubles, (I know how vulnerable it can make someone feel) but it’s amazing how good letting someone know that you care about them can make YOU feel.
Matthew 6:33
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Starting with prayer and Bible reading. I am going to have to do it (seek God's kingdom first) myself to solve my current problem of worry and fear. Hope you feel better soon and find support you need. (My husband had seven brain tumors removed - seven brain surgeries. I can see how you feel about having your brain surgery).
Lavender C has given you hope through the words of Matthew 6:33 from among the hallowed words of Jesus as he addressed anxiety in The Sermon on the Mount . To those wise words I would include his following words from Matthew 6:34 that say "So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." I fall back on those words each time I feel myself suffering under the weight of tomorrow's anxieties.
Lastly, I will quote what are for me among the most personally strengthening words spoken by Jesus in the entire Bible. In Matthew 27:46 in about the ninth hour of crucifixion while in unimaginable pain on the cross, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" While not intended as words of inspiration, they give me strength knowing that even Jesus, the most holy ever among us, could experience a moment of doubt. While my woes pale in comparison to what he faced, his cries help me recover from my moments of weakness as I reflect on his pain.
Lavender and Happyparkers, thank you for thoughtful comments. I do have faith and a good relationship with God. Happyparker, your comment about Christ’s cry out to God, got me thinking in a different direction on that for me. Venting! I was so venting yesterday. I was venting very angrily to myself and the world before I came to the group here. Im thinking Christ was showing us that it’s ok to vent out your dark feelings, even if they, and you know, they aren’t realistic. Shout out the poison. Get it out so you can move forward with your life. So many people say you shouldn’t vent your crap out to the world, you have to have strength and over come that desire. Don’t show weakness. You find strength in your weakest times. God sent me back here to get these messages that I needed to hear. I haven’t been back to the groups in 2years. And yesterday I was feeling so bad, I yelled, yes yelled, at God to show me where to go to get help. And last night I suddenly felt the need to come back here. And I’m so glad I did. Thank you all for being here.
