Wife vs dogs?..............
really?
I have no idea.
Good luck.
home for the good of the dogs.
I wish you the best.
I love my animals and it would sux if they caused such an issue :/
Maybe there are other things that are bothering her since u guys have had them now for awhile and she wanted to get rid of them years later. Seeing a counclier is a good idea that was once suggested. I would start there. In the mean time maybe u could fence in ur yard or try crating them when they are bad.
good luck to you
hugs
I'm with Dixe4me, it sounds like there are more communication issues in your relationship than just what to do about the dogs.
Good luck, I don't think I could go on without the comfort of my furry babies.
From her point .. I would not want dogs who climbed on the dining table to eat food either.
From YOUR point .. too bad the dogs were not trained well earlier. You are attached to them and 'forgiving' .. she is fed up with them.
I think a good start is to put them outside during meal time.
That is about all I got here.
I love my animals and can't imagine getting rid of them because they become a little inconvenient.
Maybe there is something else going on with your wife that's not really about the dogs??
I wish you well!
Now Wanting to get rids of your kids.................... :-) Just Kidding :-)
is there any way to keep the dogs out of the kitchen ? i.e. a baby gate?
Good Luck.
i saw this thing on tv by a vet who said you pretty much cant stop animals doing what they want to do, especially if you're not around. his idea was to give the dogs and place and a toy where they are allowed to do these things. like a sandpit they're allowed to dig in, toys for chewing etc. i dont know any animal that wouldnt go for unattended food. i have two cats that ive trained to do some things (yes you CAN train cats), if they're naughty they get time out on their own, they hate it and it works quite well. a loud noise and a firm tap on the nose is good too. i has to be consistent though and i cannot leave food on the bench.
maybe you could try a dog training course or leave the dogs outside so you can have your own space.
failing that you could call that tv show "its me or the dog!:"
haha, seriously though, i hope it workd out for you.
So, they have always been indoor dogs (3 big ones) and have taken their toll on the house for sure. Keeping up with the shedding alone is a daily cleanup. However, abandoning them is hardly an option for anyone with a heart and especially if you've had them that long. I've seen cases at the shelter where people meet new lovers and such and turn in pets they have had for 10 years just to appease the new person. I think that's disgusting. If need be, you could build indoor or outdoor barriers of some kind to eliminate some of your problems. My poor Huskys love the Winter and snow but don't get the outdoor attention they should. I have a large fenced in backyard but the one Husky jumps it so she is chained when let out and doesn't get the exercise she should.
I pray you and your Wife can come to an understanding. If anything else, be democratic and you and the kids win, yeah!
I know I slack on the training but I am trying, my 21 year old stepdaughter works on it as well, but my wife does nothing to train them.
We do need to take them on more walks but I live in MI and it is freezing (currently anyway). Taking the kids with us wouldn't be a problem, we have even done that over the summer (but not nearly enough).
I think the main issues are they are bored and not consistent discipline. And we do have other issues as well that may not help the situation.
We buy them toys/etc and play with them and the kids do too but I know it is not enough but just can not find time/energy with job, kids, pi$$y wife, and everything else to do what we should (I know its not an excuse just a reason).
I know this is bad and not the way to do it, but for a quick fix for now and to get something going if anyone has any suggestions that could help keep them occupied/calmed down that we could utilize that would take less work from us (because wife would not do any of it), to keep them busy/occupied/happy that would be greatly appreciated.
