Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I lost my Husband a little over a year ago...We were together a little over 8 years...The best years of my life...I knew he had health issues before I married him...but it just didn't matter to me because he was such a great human being and I loved him so much...As time went on little issues would come up...they would grow to be worse and worse...He was a Vietnam Veteran...in and out of the VA Hospital too often to count...He had multiple surgeries...The nurses would teach me how to treat his wounds so he could be at home with me...I was scared of doing something wrong...but God had his hand on us...When you truly love someone...You find that you can do anything!! We finally thought things were getting somewhat under control....He decided he had no choice but to retire early...2 weeks later we found out that he had leukemia...He was so strong...He felt he could beat this too...Great Doctors at the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL...They hit him hard with the strongest treatments they had....He never faltered in his belief that this cancer wasn't going to take him from me...We were told if the treatments killed the cancer cells...then hopefully he could have a bone marrow transplant...Oh how I prayed and prayed...The last test results came in...it didn't get all of the cancer

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

DS is a place that is full of wonderful people. We have a wide range of experiences, so odds are good that somebody here has walked at least part of your path.
You are free to join as many groups here as you desire.
I see that you joined the bereavement group. It is not as active as it has been in the past, but we still get activity there.
The other group I would like to point you to is the Widows and Widowers group.
https://www.dailystrength.org/group/widows-widowers
This is a group of people who, like you, have lost a spouse. Some are very new to loss and are just getting hit by all the emotions. Others have had a lot of time to recover and have actually moved on (as they say) and gotten remarried.
So welcome to the group!
