Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I used to ask why me? Of all the people why do I feel like this, but now I’ve come to accept that this is what I am. Constant sadness and exhaustion. Years of this just breaking me down piece by piece until I’m left completely numb. Part of me still wishes that this wasn’t me and that I was “normal”. The other part is guilt that I would ever have wished this on someone. No one deserves this feeling.

You should not have to accept feeling sadness and exhaustion forever. Seeing a counselor or a therapist can make the difference. I feel sad and exhausted all of the time. It is better to try to move on with your life even when you're feeling bad

Luckily you found us. Here you are normal. No, we don't deserve this any more than a child deserves a birth defect. Just what we got. And so we begin our journeys. Here we give and get support, and share tools that worked for us. When I came aboard, I read lots of posts and especially replies, to find tools. Some worked for me, some didn't, but my toolbox began filling. Healing hugs.

I’ve done counseling since 7th grade. I just recently got out of a group therapy program. I just don’t feel that this is helping. All the doctors just want to put me on more medicine trying to fix me. I’m trying to move on but I feel trapped.

I'm sorry that you feel trapped, but you have the right idea: you're trying to move on. Good luck

It sounds like you could also be dealing with one or more nutritional deficiencies or thyroid perhaps, those can sometimes be tricky to diagnose. The trouble with lab tests for iron deficiency is they only flag you if you're severely deficient. Even mild iron deficiency can make a big difference like with me as can thyroid like with my mom. Another thing that can give a quick boost is sublingual B12 lozenges. Mom and I take 1 to 2.5 mg per day and it makes a big difference. Are you sure you're getting enough good quality sleep? Maybe you could have that analyzed.

I’ve been tested for thyroid and some other stuff but not sure what. I sleep through the night now since they prescribed me some medicine for that. I will for sure try the B12 thing.
