Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
And even if you don't think praying will help, PRAY ANYWAY. Keep saying those words. You can get past this. I have to go now, but will be with you in spirit. I'll pray during the night for you. Remember those words - "Mother Mary help me. " You know that you need help, you want help. That's a good sign. You can move forward.
Also, try this: Remember when you said that there was no where for you to go to help other people? Well, that isn't exactly true. You can help your mom. She counts as being"other people" Try doing things that you know will please your mom, things that she usually asks of you, only do them before she asks. Then, ask her "Hey Mom, is there anything else you need me to do for you ?" and do it. Always keep yourself busy by doing for those around you. May sound corny or strange, but I can tell you, that it helps when you help those around you. Also, smile when you do. It makes a huge difference. Even if you don't feel like smiling, smile anyway. Just imagine your mom's surprise when you start offering to do things for her. Give it a try.
You say you're a student teacher ? That's great. Look for ways to help the kids. Look into the eyes of each of those children, and offer to help them (even if it's only one child ) in whatever way that you can.
Last night I prayed for you. I prayed for you before I went to bed, and I prayed for you when I woke up at 3:00am (I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night like that), and I prayed for you this morning, and I will continue to pray for you. You must also do your part.
God has plans for you. You have a great future ahead of you. Your life has only just begun. Don't throw away the most precious gift there is - life.
Is there a Catholic Church near you ? Now don't worry, I'm not trying to change your religion or anything like that, but if there is a Catholic Church near you, try going inside of it and just sit. That's right. You don't have to do anything but sit there for a few minutes, then you can leave. Do this every day, as often as you can. Just go in and sit. That's it. Give it a shot. If there is no Catholic Church near you, I'm sure there is a chapel on campus, right ? If so, go in and sit.
