Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Perhaps seeing a Therapist would help you have more of a "live life" mentality....
Good Luck
l have a channel on YouTube and actually have over 350,000 views. I am just an ordinary guy but people love the different kind of tiny houses I design. I just work in a grocery store but feel maybe I can still add something to this world. I think that when I die there will be some sense that I tried to add something and that even in sponsoring a child or a family, or that in anyway making someone else's life better is still something worth living for.
I'm 43 and I lived thinking like that until about a couple of years ago. My thinking has changed after I had some health issues for the first time and stopped taking all the good things in my life for granted and started appreciating life. So, I think I might understand where you are coming from. I am by default a negative thinker and I think you might be, too. Start looking into "positive psychology". As you adopt a more positive attitude in life, your perspective will change. I recommend the book "mind power" by john Kehoe very highly.
Now, going back to the question:
I agree with the above posts, you can make a difference while you are alive by planting a tree that gives shade to people, a home to birds and acorn to squirrels. You never know how you impact others' lives with one act ( maybe a smile you give changes the mind of a suicidal person who felt unloved). The bigger picture though, is, in my belief, life is a journey. It's not the destination (death) that is the point ( though death makes life meaningful by making it more scarce and precious). We do not *not* go on a gorgeous island for vacation bc we have to go back home after a week. We still go and enjoy it and take the memories with us and are a different person for the experience. Similarly, life is for our spiritual growth. We go through the good and bad times and who we are changes with what we take from those. I believe that we will continue to live after death based on what spiritual state we attained due to our actions in this world ( not reincarnated back to this world but living in another dimension). So this life ends but the next one starts and where you are in the next depends on what you did while here. This is kind of a training ground for a longer life, in other words.
Please do look into positive psychology and enjoy the time you have in this world. As long as you live, you can live it this way or that.
My love to you,
Asli
