What do you do when you've tried everything?
Tried prescription drugs- maybe ALL of them, including off label ones.
Tried supplements and vitamins- everything that I've heard might work.
Tried counseling, to no avail. Although, I don't really see any environmental causes present.
Jogging worked for about 4 hours after a jog. I jogged for 15 years and hip Doc made me give it up 6 months ago. No other exercise does it for me, and I've tried many others. (I still exercise daily anyway.)
I've had workups done- full blood panel, testosterone checks, and other things. Nothing shows up.
Diet may be the only thing I haven't tried. Other than a mild sweet tooth my diet is pretty okay though.
Anybody else hit this road block and find a way around it?
Thanks for any tips,
Spencer

Please be careful before getting ECT.I had them and it was hard as hell. It helped some, I remember feeling distinctly different after 6.But it didn't last, and emotionally I was on a roller coaster.I have PTSD as well and those symptoms came back with force.I also have a lot of trouble with my short term memory now. There is a lot of cell death that occurs in the brain during ECT. Before doing something so drastic, do a lot of research! Most hospitals neglect to mention the downside of ECT completely. Nobody even knows how it works,or why. Once you start it's difficult to have any control over the process because you are pretty much out of it, then when you get clearer they ask you to sign a permission to continue, when you can barely remember the day before.

I know you have been through a lot. I don't know how many meds you are on, but sometimes cutting one out can help. Talk to your doctor. My meds bring me up a notch so I can function to a certain degree. On thing that did help was a mood stabilizer, Lamictal. On the therapy side, there is cognitive therapy (DBT) you may have tried it. One thing that has helped me at times is just accepting where I am at and letting certain things go. Sometimes there are things we just can't change. I may be way off the mark but I just thought I would throw this in :)

I just have to comment because I am in the same boat as you seem to be. I have tried mostly all of the medications out there used to treat depression. I have even tried ECT to no avail. I am still actively searching for that one amazing cure. While doing that I have gone through the despair and hopelessness also. But my Dr. is great at giving hope and support. I sometimes worry that I am "un-helpable". I have had to give up so much because of my dsease but we can never stop searching for that one effective treatment. Keep on pushing. I hope that you find something soon to relieve your hopelessness.

In my opinion there is no miracle drug or anything...just meds and lifestyles and diets and exercise etc. that makes life manageable. One of these aspects can't fix things completely but a combination of all of them can help 90%.

I have tried almost drug out there and found cymbalta helped but it was too expensive for me. Talking to a therapist seems to help for a while. I have no friends anymore and my family isn't talking to me. Could sure use some support. I am new to this forum. Thanks.

Have you tried ECT? That helped me out of the deepest psychosis and depression. Have you tried that viibryd? I think it is the newest of the antidepressants out there. There are always new ones coming out. Have you tried adderall? I have found that helps with motivation and depression. I have been on 39 different meds and hundreds (literally) over the past 5 years. I have tried DBT and CBT. I have taken psych and social work classes (for my future career). I have training in wellness coaching and peer support group running. I am just now getting to a stable point. I know it can happen for you too! PM me if you want! GOOD LUCK
