Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
What are you going to do today? Just today. It sounds corny but listen to your heart. Your heart will tell you what to do.
I've been on disability for the past 4 years and I am struggling mightily to get off of it.
Why struggle to get off it? Social security is a good way not to have to worry about money, I would think; at least, until you definitely have an alternative source of income.
It seems like each opportunity I manage to fail and find myself back to where I started or even below that point.
What did Edison say about the invention of the lightbulb? Could fail a 1000 times but only needed to succeed once. Easy for me to say: you're the one who never has to give up, no matter what!
So now I am trying to get back to work again but what is the point when I can't do anything?
I'm sure you can do something. You say 'work again' which means you have some experience in the working world which should serve you in good stead.
Sitting under the tree would appeal to me: the Buddha did just that prior to his enlightenment! The Bodhi Tree was a large and very old sacred fig tree located in Bodh Gaya, under which Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who later became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment.
I should be happy because I got weight loss surgery and I am down 48 pounds total in just over a month.
If you were brave enough for that surgery you can do anything, in my opinion.
