Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Hugs, SBoom, no need to feel bad....there's an awful lot of outside pressure on this day.
Hugs for everyone feeling yuck today.
It's so silly to let a stupid hallmark holiday get ya down but that's the thing with emotions - they don't listen to reason!
I am well aware of the fact that Vday is meaningless.
I am well aware of the fact that many couples are faking it today.
I am well aware of the fact that there is NOTHING wrong with being single.
Yet... regardless of how totally unwilling I am to buy into this crap it still reminds me that I am a little bit lonely and that it's not a nice feeling.
I couldn't care less about Valentines day - and I don't think most people could, really. It's more the in-your-face reminder that you're missing out on something beautiful (not vday, love!)
I am married, and lonelier than hell.
Today is just more salt in the wound, basically.
I always, always believed in a happy ending (F* it to fairy tales but this is what I was brought up on among many positives).
My last song for tonight as I need to:
Matt Brouwer - Better Days (ending this post with a pretty and beautiful song as I need to)

By the way - did you know that in Finland and some other Scandinavian countries "Valentines Day" is not about romantic love at all? There it is actually about celebrating purely platonic love and thanking your friends and family for being there.
I think I would like that holiday a lot better.... and I think it would bring a lot more happiness to a lot more people than this silly bastardization we've come to celebrate every year.
To me, Valentine's Day is about much more than romance. I have such a beautiful memory ... My Mom had the most beautiful of beautiful flowers sent to me at work. Valentine's Day is about love ... to family, friends, and more. I was triggered this today as most relate this to a romantic holiday.
((( HUGS ))))
So sorry!
All Valentines Day truly is to me is a two word description on a calender. If there is no "significant other" in your life, or a significant other who isn't so significant, the day is like all other days. A name of a day shouldn't change that.
For me, I love the people I love 24/7/365. I don't need Hallmark, Whitmans, Cella, Hersheys, Zales, Kays, etc, etc to say "I Love You" to someone...I am capable of doing so all on my own. I also don't need any of those things from anyone to let me know I am loved. I know I am. Period.
To be loved and able to love consistently and continuously is the very best gift of them all, on any given day.
:)
And not HEAR....should be hearT
Oh those crazy typos :/
but. I will say..... that it is a Holiday..... Like alot of them.... and yes, I have been married 25 years and I got 3 dozen roses and a sweet card and we went out to dinner.... and it was nice.. For me..... it was nice because I never want to go anywhere..... or out......
so for today.. I did that....... for my husband who loves me... I didn't care.. I had a great time..... and I am happy I went out..... if it took Valentine's Day to get my sorry ass out, then Bravo ... If you all just knew how big that was. I do understand what you all are saying and I agree with it... but just for today.. it was big for me because it helped me.........
I care about you all....... and I do understand....... love and hugs
