The Twilight series is far overrated. There are many other vampire books/stories that have been out for years that are way better.
True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels and they have been out years before Twilight as well Vampire Diaries. Twilight was made with teens in mind. At the library they are in the teen section. Young girls thrive on the romance compared to the more horror type novels.
I prefer the more gory type, but didn't mind the first couple of Twilight.

At least Buffy had Sarah Michelle Gellar to deflect the plots.

I love the Sookie Stackhouse books. I've read them all and am eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

I may well finish my vamp book one day. Am trying to write a novella based on a poem I wrote atm.

I do have one of those books and I gave it a go on Stevie's recommendation but then there was something about a woman's 'love engine' and that killed it for me.

I used to get called a vampire when I was younger as my hair was so dark in the winter months, my skin was white and my lips got chapped in the cold air. Now my hair is grey at the front only, my skin is wrinkled and my lips are permanently pursed in disapproval at the recent rash of crap vampire entertainement so I get called a crone. Progress of sorts. Next stop Zombie.
