Are you just thinking about doing it or do you actually believe you'll go through with it? That's actually pretty important to know. Either way, you're in a great place. I know from experience that just feeling as if you're not alone in your situation can gradually help you feel better. I know everyone says it'll get better, but I think the key is believing yourself that it'll get better. I was suicidal last year and in a sense, I indirectly tried to kill myself by taking sleeping pills and hopping in my car to just drive. I remember getting frustrated when I couldn't find anything sharp enough in my apartment to cut myself. But eventually I just tried to change my thought process and it worked. 2016 hasn't been the best year and I'm still depressed and lonely from time to time but it gets better each day. I know you may not want to see a counselor, so google cognitive therapy or cognitive therapy worksheets. I found just learning how to think positively and setting small, achievable, short-term goals for myself to reach (such as studying to make an A on an exam) really helped. I applaud you for looking for support before going through with it :)

And if it's other people that are causing your depression, I might have some advice on that as well :)

I'm new as well and sometimes the sadness and whatever is weighing you down seems just too much. Please let everyone who has read your post bear it with you. I've written letters to whatever or whoever I thought got me to the point of wanting to just give up. I read it out loud with passion and tore it up. Felt so good!

Maybe you should write them. Just to get your feelings and thoughts down. Then stick them in a box where nobody will find them? Sometimes it's satisfying to just know you have things down on paper and writing stuff out can really help with depression too

I sooooo agree---write them down....rage here!!! But, don't act on it, please. Such a permanent answer to a temporary issue!!!

Don't call them suicide notes, but rather call it journaling. Write as furiously as you can, get those feelings and thoughts on paper. Your hand won't be able to keep up with your mind. But do it until your hand or mind is too tired. At worst, you will feel exhausted, and the energy you may have felt to do something will be far less. It seems so weird and silly, but it often helps more than you can imagine. I never read them after - just keep a notebook by my bed and write when I am feeling so low.

When I felt like that, I went to my doctor who put me on antidepressent medication. Then I was much happier!
