I loved the film, and wish I had the love that the two main characters had. It didn't make me depressed it made it me happy and whimsical, and little eager to experience life and love and mystery and adventure and progressive struggle.... ahh.. loved it.

it had a few really important political messages, too. as folks have already mentioned.

might go see it again.

I do think that it touched at deep desire in a lot of people that they probably didn't realize they had, The Desire for a simpler life. So much of our lives these days is in Overdrive and Grabbing for things that leave us unsatisfied

I can certainly be wistful about the film and I do plan on seeing it again

what plebs..... OMG...... What's wrong with them? I've seen movies similar to that before, and I watched some of this one....
I don't understand....Simple. It's just stupid.

I've immersed myself in many a fantasy world from a young age. Narnia. The worlds created by Enid Blyton. Fantasy worlds. I was always a dreamer. But I always knew what reality was.

Quite frankly when I saw avatar I thought it was gorgeous, the characters were great, it was highly moving BUTI was obsessed btwn a desire to see the 3D and how it all messed with my slight uncorrected astigmatism.

Of course, I also don't give the Na'vi (sp?) what is practically deity. The idea that their lives aren't also full of petty jealousies, grief, boredom, and strife is ridiculous and the movie made that clear--that this was among them before the Corporation came in.

BTW the parallels to the Disney Pocahontas movie are so blatant its ridiculous. She shows him the wonders of her natural world . . . later the kiss under the tree of the great spirit . . . hmmm . . . he is an outsider trying to help.

This movie combined political messages against the European arrival in the Americas, environmental destruction, and current wars. I did want to cry at the thought of all the American Indians suffered from the European arrival.

Too much reality for me to disassociate that's for sure!
