Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I don't even know what to write here. I feel broken. A big part of me wants to do something physical and angry. Break my fingers, bite my tongue off and swallow it, take scissors and jam them into my throat. But I'm terrified of pain, so I don't, and I cry and I beg people on the internet to pay attention to me, I guess. I don't know, I just... feel done. It isn't worth it. The only people who would miss me are the ones who have an obligation to. They'd be considered monsters if they said they wouldn't miss me. I'm reminded of a time when I was a kid, in third grade, and I tied a thread of my baby blanket around my finger before going to bed one night because I thought that would kill me, or at the least, it would let me stay home from school. Alas, all it did was turn my fingertip very purple. But I can't stay home from school anymore. I'm not a kid anymore. I still feel like one though. I don't feel like I should be an adult. Certainly not right now

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist?
The reason I ask is they are experts in psychiatric meds and being on the right medication can help a lot along with other tools
Big hug...xo
If you are care taker alone for your Mom, you might want to look to the state for respite, or hire someone for like two hours a week, senior care provider to give you a break.
It's winter, cold and isolating...thinking a lot of people are feeling depressed. You do have choices to feel better one might be to see your own medical doctor for a check up.
You could see your family doctor and ask for a psychiatric referral?
I don't know if there's much of a wait
If there is your family doctor can help during the wait
I would definetly seek treatment
And there is good help for depression
Therapy is good but sometimes not affective without medication as it can involve brain chemestry
Big hug...xo
On a personal note, I also try to get lots of water during the day to help flush out toxins and give the body more relief
I totally get what you're saying and agree 100% with suncloud.
Please talk to your primary care Dr and get help with the depression. It doesn't sound like you're current therapist has all the tools nessary to help enough.
I totally relate to your words.
No one would notice much less care if I disappeared. Maybe they'd miss their paycheck, meal ticket, or personal maid for a moment.....but not me (as a person)
But like you I fear pain.
It's been the only thing that's stoped me from doing something permanent so many times.
The few times I've gotten past that fear and acted on these thoughts it's only been the grace and intervention of God that has gotten me to the ER and kept me alive.
Ive been in therapy now for 3 years....and seeing a phyciatrist for 6mos or so.
I'm diagnosed borderline personality (BPD) Bipolar 1 and CPTSD.
My meds help a lot (after finding the right combo for me) . I'm more stable than before.
But I'm still very trigerable .
Like now .
Working mandatory OT, cutting into and disrupting my sleep, and routine.
Causing stress and fatigue.
The a huge fight with my husband (relationship stress)
Physical stress making me more vulnerable to bipolar episodes.
Relationship stress more vulnerable to BPD episode
But....I have an appointment with my phyciatrist tomorrow (Friday) I can tell her how I was good, baseline stable for a few months and how I've crashed just these last couple days.
My hope and expectation is that she can help me get back to baseline and find my hope again like she has before.
I hope and pray you can feel better soon too.
Please feel free to message me anytime if you need to talk k *hugs*
Is there anyway you can join a meetup or take a class in art or something?
You need distraction and social interaction.
I hope you can start to feel better soon.
