My dad passed away last night. I haven't gotten the details yet because I'm not ready. I've mentioned he had lung cancer, but from what my mom said, it sounds like it was something else, or a complication. So my daughter and I came up today to be together and help my mom with anything I can.
I'm completely destroyed. I've always been really close to my parents. He was the best dad a girl could hope for. I know I'll get by, but I really don't know how I'll live without him. I feel like I've been stabbed in the heart.
I experienced the stages of grief when my brother died, so I'm familiar with them. So far I've had depression, anger, and denial. And so much pain.
My mom and daughter are all the family I have left. I'm going to be a wreck for a really long time.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

They all suck.
Speaking as a dad who has a daughter that I love as much as anything I've loved I would say this to you. Please go on with your life. Cry if you must, take the time you need, but please live a long life, as long as you can. Then when we meet again you will have a lot to tell me!
There is a bereavement group here, you can find it from my profile. Please consider joining us.
As for the stages of grief, I think of them as emotions of grief. There is no set order that they come in, and the emotions will come at us over and over. It is not one and done as some therapists may suggest. Your grief is unique to you.
Gentle hugs
I know what it was like when my Mum died.
