Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I've applied to every application nonstop for four years until my fingers and heart bled. I've believed in every piece of optimism from the challenges of Job to unanswered prayers. I've gone from supporters telling me "it'll all work out" to "give up"
And what do I get out of it? Nothing at all.
And you know what? I'm done.

And you know what? I'm done.

I haven't read the book he mentions, but I basically agree with Peter, if you can't find work, get creative, find something you like and are good at and figure out how to use it to make money. I can't keep a 9-5 job because of my bipolar episodes. So I've made money freelance with a computer business, tutoring students, professional backgammon, buying and selling sci-fi collectives and coins, and most recently breeding show quality betta fish among other things pulling on my particular talents. The Internet opens up a lot of opportunities. Having capital is good, but I have repeatedly been able to come out of an episode essentially penniless, sometimes even homeless, and found a way start something up. I was forced into thinking outside the box by desperate circumstances, but in truth this is often more rewarding than punching someone's time clock.

I have a job and I give up too. There's no getting ahead. In all honesty if you can live off of the system and not work I highly suggest you do it. I cannot because I have a college education and have been working for so long. But people who don't work and get food stamps, medicate etc. will outlive me by about ten years. And they'll have a lot less stress doing it. If you can give up and do absolutely nothing, if the system will take care of you, freakin' do it.

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...
