Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
These past couple months have been so awful. I don’t understand it. I feel like I’m doing all the right things. Meds, going to therapy- and actively participating in therapy at that and using proper coping mechanisms. But I am so down. The depression only seems to be getting worse. I’ve given up a lot of hope that things could get better. I know I’ll survive but it’s almost like every second of the day is excruciating. I’ve missed many classes recently and have failed to turn in many assignments. I am more than likely going to fail one class. I’ll get C’s in the other three, which isn’t ideal. My parents will be so upset if they find out. I’m so disappointed in myself. I had to withdraw from school last year in the middle of the semester because I wouldn’t leave my dorm because of the depression and anxiety. It was a really big deal and extremely difficult to deal with for me, as I have always been an honor roll student. This isn’t how things were supposed to be. And now, a year later, it’s like I’m in the same place, despite all the effort and fight I have put in. It’s so discouraging. On top of all that, I’m having some stomach issues which just sucks. Binge eating disorder + anxiety + IBS = not a good combo. Thanks for reading my ramblings. As always I’m open to advice and encouragement.

I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

Depression is a really tricky illness, you can be doing absolutely everything right to treat it, and you sound like you are. Sometimes medications need tweaking to get to the exact right combination and dose to normalize the chemicals in the brain that effect your Depression. Talk to your Pdoc, tell him/her exactly whats going on and see if medications might need tweaked.
But keep in your head that you are doing everything right, you are, and sometimes it just takes a while and some tweaks. You can't be so hard on yourself, you have to give yourself a break.
Talk to your Pdoc.
