Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Sometimes it’s good to just share more about how you’re feeling regarding your faith. I struggle with feelings of condemnation often and it feels good to just explain them to people without necessarily being told that the way I feel isn’t true, even though even I may believe deep down that what I feel isn’t true... if that makes sense. I hope you are able to find someone to communicate these feelings to who will ask questions and accept what you have to say nonjudgementally.
Best wishes, feel free to message me if you need to talk more about this!
VA Hospital that I had worked at so I knew some of the doctors at the trauma center. They took my to surgery immediatedly to cut my right leg off and then the next day they had to do it again. When I left that house,I had to go to a rehab hospital for 3 weeks. When I was discharged,I went and got copies of my hospital stay. They only let me have 75 pages. When I got home,I sat down and read each page.My sight became blurry because with each page,I cried.I kept telling myself,God,I shouldn't have lived. This was the kind of patient's I had taken care of at the VA.These patient's wasn't suppose to live.I knew God saved me but for what,I don't know.I am thankful that he pulled me thru it.In the Bible it tells us that we will have hardships but he will never leave us,he will always walk us through it.I still get depressed at night and hate myself for having the wreck. My son seems to thing that my Ambien was still in my system but I did not have enough blood in my body for them to draw a tox screen on me to see what medications was in my system.I am on Effexor for my depression and sometimes it doesn't help.Sometimes I cry myself to see.I have gained to much weight and I can't wear my prosthesis and that really gets me down.My favorite verse in the Bible is,I can do all things through Christ,my Lord and another is ,With God all things are possible.I hope this helps you a little.Jan
God doesn't let the world be enveloped in Sadness, he lets Humans have Free Will, and we tend to screw it up more than we get it right.
This is the domain of Satan (evil). Evil LIVES here. It is all around us. God teaches us how to AVOID evil, how to banish it, and how to ENDURE it.
He does NOT live our earthly lives for us.
I’ll be praying for you.
I believe that each day when we wake up, we have a choice. We can look for the good in the world, or the bad. It's a big world and filled with both.
Perhaps you can join a church. Go to the pot luck suppers. Help with the landscaping. Decorate for the holidays. Get involved. Get around other people who are also struggling.
For some, that can be depressing.
Thoughts that run around like "well they're such good people, why didn't god fix them?". To me, that's missing the point. Yes they're good. They're also a bit bad. They're human...imperfect. And they STILL have value and something to contribute. In seeing their imperfections, you can see that you're OWN are acceptable too.
Look to make friends...but don't put "all your eggs in one basket". People fail at times, and you'll fall too if you're leaning too hard on just one or two people.
Instead, seak connections with everyone. Even those that seem strange to you, or too old, or too young. There's something to be gained from everyone's humanity.
Maybe just put the questions on the back shelf for now...and find meaning in each small day's struggles. There really IS a lot of good out there. Look at each person, who in their own way, responded to this post.
Big hugs, Patti
