Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

In my 28 years of BiPolar Disorder and monthly Therapy Sessions, I've used a Christian Psychiatrist before, I've seen a Christian Psychologist before. No, I would not use a Church Pastor/Counselor, I don't believe they are qualified to deal with most Mental Illnesses. My Pdoc of the last 10 years is a Christian himself, but he is not a Christian Pdoc, do we talk about Faith and God during Therapy Sessions, yes, quite often.
Good luck finding the right Therapist for you.
Your question was how did it help. Without sounding overly zealous, my Christian counselors allowed me a safe place to express my true feelings, listened, reminded me to use the Bible as a guide that showed me I was "loved" even when I felt like I was not, prayed with me, gave me wise, practical advice about how to deal what what was and to move on, and let me cry. I did not have to stuff my depression and say it did not exist and yet they gave me hope. My hope is in Christ, yet I needed others to help me hold onto that hope.
Your question is much deeper, in my eyes. Where is your hope?
